FJR = bike model, specifically an FJR1300, which happens to be Yamaha's sport touring model. I'm not sure why this is confusing...

I don't know, anymore than I know why mine is an XVZ1300, or "Venture". Why are the sport bikes FZ or FZR? I would assume the "F" is a standard designation of theirs for the sportier bikes with an upright seating position, the "J" would indicate that it is a touring model (as opposed to the FZ/FZR's of the lineup), and the "R" at the end would designate a full fairing, as it does with the FZ vs. FZR.

This is all conjecture and my attempt to apply logic, and so far as I can tell the letters themselves may not have any specific meaning (abbreviation or such).
