good diesel shop

hello all. friday morning i filled my truck with shell diesel. yes it's a diesel truck.
Well after about 10 miles it started running BAD. coughing and sputtering.
barely wants to run but once i slowly get it up to highway speed it runs "ok"
anyway i am guessing i got a bad tank of diesel. Coughs and sputters.
I have run the truck all night here at work and got the tank level down to about 1/8th. Will refill on the way home this morning and hope that it clears up on the 60 mile drive home to cypress.
Question is. Does anyone know of a good diesel shop that i can take it to and maybe get my injectors cleaned in the cypress area? just put in a new fuel filter about a week ago but i think i am gonna pull it out today and see what it looks like.
Any diesel gurus have any thoughts?
Michael

try draining the water out of the filter first. get some fuel additive from a truck stop. good stuff there and will clean injectors and remove water.

get some lucas injector cleaner or howes fuel stabilizer. fill your tank up with some good diesel from as busy of a station you can find and change your filter again. The best fuel is found at the 18 wheeler pumps at busy truck stops since they are constantly filling their tanks up from getting low. Go to a Flying J, T/A, or Pilot to get the best fuel. Or you can get some of the NONLEGAL offroad stuff if you got the hook up.

Sounds like it could be some bad diesel fuel.

It's happened to me before.

By the next tank it was gone.

sounds like bad fuel....drain the fuel/water seperator and put in some diesel fuel additive....

You probably got some stale fuel that had a lot of water in it.

I've been down that road before, took another tank or two to get it back to "normal"....

I know the owners at DI Performance on 1960......(diesel innovations)

Hey I'm going to send you a PM. I have a diesel mechanic staying with me right now that is really good. Or has been so far. If anything he can at least give you his opinion. Give me a call.

I went through a tank of bad diesel recently and found it a whole lot cheaper to run it out myself.

What kinda diesel you have? My ford has a drain for the fuel just behind the plastic shroud and I drained it to look on the ground and found that indeed it was water in the mixture. Go to a parking lot (secluded) and test it there.

Ran a couple of cans of injector cleaner (don't remember the brand) and there was less and less water as it finished off the tank.

Hope that helps.

ok.heres what happened.
working graveyards last night so i just pulled the truck into the plant. opened hood and let idle from 7pm to 3am. started at 3/4 tank full.
at 3am it was at 1/8th tank.
left work and all the truck would do was idle at about 1000 rpms. no throttle response at all. flashers on and doing about 13 mph and killing any mosqitos (sp) i went about 5 miles to the closest diesel station, valero. i bought a bottle of stp diesel fuel conditioner/cleaner, all they had for diesels.
put that in and refilled with about 25 gal of diesel.
started truck, still coughing, put in drive and drove to side of station to wait it out. I u not i went 10 yards and stopped, started to sputter and rpms came up abit and 10 seconds later it throttled up abit. still smoking.
so i put in gear and took off. 30 seconds later i was on the freeway and hauling like nothing happened. no smoke and truck seems to run like normal.
go figure thanks for the replies and pms.
i may still take it to a shop and get the injectors cleaned for the of it.
thanks all
Michael

that happens to me all the time, now I only buy fuel at reputable truck stops. I use sea foam addative, it will clear the whole tank up almost right away.

yeah when I had my diesel (had 2, a F350 crew cab and an Excursion Limited) I was alway real carefull about where I bought fuel. Best place to buy diesel is at a big truck stop. They are getting fresh fuel almost daily.
