OR I'd like to see him in WSB as well.

Nicky is a very talented rider, he just never seemed to "mesh" well with Moto GP IMO.

I think MotoGP still needs a rider like Nicky and I for one will continue to be a fan of all of our US boys that are out there.

And luck will only get you a race or two. Consistency gets you #1 plate.

I'm huge fans of both, but I'm afraid that both Colin & Nicky will be looking for new rides next season. I'd love to see them back in AMA with Nick back on a Honda & Colin staying with Yamaha. He seems to be a pretty good development rider, which might just be the ticket to getting the yamaha superbikes competitive. (not to mention the hellacious 3 brand battle that would ensue)

Edit: If that dream were to come true, I could probably quit watching GP because it would be boring compared to AMA

I'm a Honda fan, and more importantly would like to see an American win, but I'll be the first to admit he's off to a bad start -- but come on "LUCKY"? He won fair and square last year - no one lucks their way through MotoGP for an entire season with guys like Rossi (not to mention the rest of the field) out there chomping at you for an entire season. I wouldn't write him off yet.

Hayden only won two races in '06.
Rossi won five.
Rossi had four seconds and a third, Hayden had three seconds and five thirds.

It was the three DNFs that hurt Vale. hayden had no DNFs -- that does say a lot about consistency tho.

You are right - Hayden was more consistent - that's why he won.

Actually the Honda was consistent. The Yamaha was just plauged with issues last year.
It is no secret, I am not a Nicky fan, far from it. His ONE championship in AMA came as Eric Bostrom blew his ZX7R motor, I think at Infineon. In the end Eric lost the championship by 2 points (if my memory serves me correctly). Again big time benifitting from others problems.
Obviously he has talent, but I think most give him more credit than he has EARNED. Straight up battle with Rossi? he would lose, this year, last year, it doesn't matter.
The only reason he beat Rossi in Turkey was because he wasn't going fast enough to tear the tire up

Right, even the 250 class has been heated this year!

Nicky consistently finished races well last year. He got the #1 plate for it, could'a happened to any one of the riders, but it didn't.
While I agree with you that he finished races, I have to credit that to Honda building a solid bike, not Nicky whipping everyone on the grid. He was consistent and had a few things handed to him.
If he would have beat Rossi once, just once in a straight up race, then this would all be different. I guess it comes down to the best is not always the winner. Kinda like the tortise(sp?) and the hare.
I for one would love to root for an American rider, but I just don't think there is a GREAT American rider in MotoGP right now. Too bad really.

Gotta root for the hometown boy, I mean , we got a guy from effin Conroe racing in the big leagues.

My brother and I went to Valencia last year and we toted a big Texas flag and waived it like crazy whenever Colin came around the back straight. We were hoping he'd win just so he could do the victory lap with the Lone Star (tho I guess he'd probably wuss and pick the stars 'n bars)

All the Spaniards kept asking if we were Chilean because of the similarity between the two flags, I just pointed at my Tony Llamas in response.

it's hard enough for nicky to just catch up with pedrosa so it would take a huge miracle to catch up to rossi or stoner. i think last year was a fluke and he got the champion because rossi's yamaha was not as reliable and he was lucky rossi crashed at the final race. now its going to be very hard for nicky in repsol honda. this is a team thats based in spain, have spain sponsors, and have a faster spain rider in the team.............:eh:

hayden is done this year. as far as done in MotoGP....that i dont think so just yet. and if he has to go to any of the other racing leagues, id say wsbk, its just been way more fun for me to watch than motogp this season.

I think wsbk has more action than moto gp sometimes anyways.
Plus it's nice to see them battling on bikes that "reasemble" the same stuff that we ride everyday.
