Pretty nasty accident at 518/146 in Kemah today

Just now getting home, but saw the aftermath of a pretty gnarly accident at the intersection of 518/146 in Kemah today.......didnt see the car that he hit, but looked to be a Harley mangled up on the ground. It had to have just happened because there were two cops on scene, and the firetruck was just pulling up. Rider looked to be alive, but had a nasty looking injury to his back (between the shoulder blades looked like there was no more skin....). At least he had on a helmet......

Wear your gear people!

Oh, he lost his leg. Police were going after him. He was fleeing, and severed his leg.

Motorcycle driver fleeing cops crashes; severed leg found at scene

KEMAH — A man had one of his legs severed when he lost control of his motorcycle attempting to flee police Saturday evening.
Kemah police were investigating an accident at Sixth and Bradford streets near the Kemah Boardwalk Entertainment District when a man driving a black motorcycle defied officers and drove around barricades erected by police at the accident site.
The man then fled south on state Highway 146. Officers began to follow the motorcyclist and were about to order a pursuit when they discovered the man and his motorcycle splayed out on the ground at FM 518.
Kemah police Sgt. Mark Hinson said police did not know what happened to the motorcyclist.
One of the man’s legs was severed and found at the scene.
Hinson said the motorcyclist was taken via LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Firefighters and police officers on the scene had to disconnect the motorcycle’s battery to prevent a fire because gasoline had leaked on the street.
Officers were still investigating the accident late Saturday evening and did not know whether alcohol was involved.

I was there shortly after it happened, but the police had gotten there by then and had everything blocked off. Just before it got dark. About 7:30 ish or so?? Every once in a while I take my bike to the car meet at the Seabrook Home Depot. I WAS going to take 96 across and then north up 146. This time I took NASA 1 and went south on 146. Traffic over the bridge is always a mess on Friday and Saturday nights, but I could see the red and blues flashing all over the place.

Obviously I didn't know it was a bike. I was actually quite happy I didn't take 96. Traffic was really SNAFU. There was an organized group of HD riders that showed up at the meet about 30 minutes after I did. All wearing matching T-shirts, but I can't remember what the printing said. They didn't look very friendly and just went stomping a bee-line up through the meet. I didn't pay attention to where they went. Don't know if it had anything to do with it, but they weren't wondering around looking at cars. Hmmmm.....

Guess I'm gonna check up on the news. Interested in developing details. . . . .

! His back was towards us on the ground so we couldnt see his legs......the cops didnt look to be in that urgent of a rush so I guess we know why now.....

So the biker went around one accident site and caused another accident site?
And what is splayed??
