I just don't like the fact that after 6 years I would end up paying twice as much for the insurance as I did the bike! That's crazy lol

You're age and the city we live in? 90% easily. Also, they can steal your bike from storage...they can steal your bike when you go into McDonalds for a burger. You're going to regret not getting theft. You're bike is a HOTLY targeted bike.

My buddy got his bike stolen out of his garage. Did you try Dairyland insurance?

No, the crazy part is someone your age riding a bike that powerful and thinking he shouldn't have to pay the proper insurance.

There's a reason they make 250s....

You're 25 years old and you're riding a bike that is only minimally different from a full on race bike. It isn't like the difference between the Camaro you can buy and a NASCAR race car. We're talking minor differences like suspension setup, a catalytic converter, headlights, turn signals and a back seat.

They're not worried about you getting a ticket, they're worried about you turning into road pizza.

Ever wonder why they always have "BBQ Fundraisers"? Because most people fail to insure themselves properly.

That mere fact prevents me from going to those things. The family suffers because the guy decided to engage in a high risk hobby without proper insurance.

Exactly. My dealership back home has a brand new R1, 7 miles and totaled. Guy bought it, left, and the bike was back in 2 hours. 23 year old kid with "dirtbike" experience.

I always figured this as well. However, while riding a bike I built for my brother, I was involved in an incident. I have Progressive coverage for my own bikes, and he had already insured this bike through Progressive (I was delivering it to Austin the next day). I called them to notify them of the incident under my policy (figuring I was insured as a rider, not as a couple of individual bikes) and they said that if a claim were to be filed it would need to be under my brother's policy. Luckily nothing ever came of it, but I found it odd that they treated it this way.

Well as you pointed out, you are married - and how long have you been riding? I get the impression the OP is a new rider. He's gonna pay big for the first year or two. Not too many ways around that.

Ya I see what ur saying now thats y I asked how long has he had a bike insured iv only really been on the street for bout 8months. However my first bike was a buell xb12r and I had it with liability for 6months before I dropped it. When I bought this r1 I got told some high prices but after calling and call in I found my price point which I found fare. However I'm praying next year it goes down way more Lol 182. Is still a good chunk of change . when you consider my car and truck are full coverage roadside and rental both and I only pay 142. For both of them lol
