Austin/Hill Country ride JUNE 7th-8th!

- I'm limiting this to the first 8 riders. (I prefer less)

- No noobs. While this isn't a extremely fast paced ride, some of the places we will be will be in the middle of no where and the fastest help would be life flight. Also, most noobs couldn't do the mileage. From my door back to my door its 775ish miles.

- Bike should be well kept, chain lubed, good tires etc. Wouldn't be a good idea to show up on a basket case.

- There may or may not be gravel or dirt roads on our trip................just kidding there will be for certain gravel/dirt roads.

- Meet spot is 290@FM362 7am. KSU at 7:30am.

- We will be parting ways in Brookshire Sunday night around 7-8pm

- If a group wants to go faster than my pace, someone else can go ahead of us to lead that ride.

- Stay hydrated. It may be a bit warm.

- Fuel up at every station we stop at. Like I said, we will be out in the middle of no where at times it would REALLY suck to have to walk all they way back to the next/last gas station as we rode off.

- Bring a camera, be ready to take pictures. Lots of beautiful stuff to see. Gopro's are a plus as well.

- Hotel. A buddy and I stayed at Crossland extended stay this past weekend and split the room. $40 a piece. It's not the Marriott, but it will do for cheap.

- Cops. This last trip we didn't see ANY along our way. However, in Lago Vista (before we get to Lime Creek Rd...) the Cops are NOTORIOUS for upholding traffic law.

- I'll explain a little more during the riders meeting.

any questions?

Lunch is firm, but everyone is free to room wherever. If you want to come back, Sat. that's fine with me. Dinner, we go where the majority wants to go. We play it by ear.

, well I didn't wreck or anything but the bike no longer has fairings , not sure if my new ones will arrive before this trip or not.

Maybe stupid question but the fairings don't actually offer any protection to the bike from kicked up rocks or anything right?

As long as I rig up some kind of protection for my radiator like I've seen on a few Sunday rides I should be good?

As long as the radiator is protected, or you stay well back from the bike in front of you, you should be good to go

The right fairing cracked around the bolts & caught wind on the front straight ripping off my right fairing and took half of the left side with it.

Tony at HoP had pointed out where the plastic around the bolts was cracking and stuff when I was getting an estimate on paint the other day (stand-up guy explaining why it was a bad idea to waste $ painting those instead of just taking my $$$ srs A+++ will be coming back, and actually spending $$$ next time). Told me that's what happens with the cheap Chinese plastics etc but I didn't think they were close to failing/breaking.

My guess is it only took one part of the fairing to slip over a bolt and about half a second later caught wind and boom no more fairings lol.

I didn't even realize they were gone until I was asking the Marshall why I was black flagged, brother was riding behind me and saw it happen. Said it was deff a pucker moment for him

So that was YOUR fairing in the middle of the straight that caused me to have to walk 1/2 a mile to wave a yellow flag for 10 min against the wall until I could retrieve it?? LOL That sucks, glad no one got hit with that thing.

Sure was, so sorry you had to do that! Owe you a drink or two if were ever at the same meet. Bummer I ruined your session.

Yea.. heart dropped like a rock when the marshall pointed out my fairing was gone, so glad it didn't take anyone out.

LOL Didn't ruin "my" session. I was TM'n, and had to decide about what to do with that thing in the middle of the straight. I decided it was in a wide enough section of the track that as long as we just kept ppl aware of it being there, there was plenty of room to go around, as opposed to shutting down the session. So, I walked over to the wall next to it and waved the yellow flag, along with having the T13 guy waving yellow as well. It all worked out. That was Josh you spoke to at the TM station--I was training him yest morning.

(Sorry for the threadjack, Chris. )
