Supermoto Introduction Thread!

If you ride a supermoto introduce yourself here!

My name is Mike and I have a KTM 950 Supermoto. I had a KTM 625SMC before this bike. I enjoyed the 625 but only really used it at the track. I didn't find an appropriate track for it in the area so I sold it and got the 950SM. Now I use the 950 on the street and I take it to the MSR-Houston track as well.

Looking forward to meeting other SM riders in the area!

Scott is here!
I have an `01 XR650L that I have converted to Street SM trim. I've done some exhaust and carb mods, etc.. Other bikes are an `02 R1 that's basically stock, a `91 fzr600 that I financed and then inevitably repo'ed after he crashed it and left it for dead. I'm a member at MSR-H and would LOVE to get the SM'ers together for some SM only track time!
I live north of pearland off of 288. PM me if you want to ride. We need to get the SM fever going in houston!

PS- thanks again Chris for opening the supermoto group.

everyone should try to post a pic of their SM's with their description..

Hey it happened!

This is just way to cool! Hopefully other Houston Sm'ers will show up here.

I live in the south part of Houston near Pearland and Clearlake. I've done lots of offroading and dualsporting on my XR650R and XR400R both plated. This past fall I just decided to convert my 650 to an SM by adding 17" wheels and tires and changing out chain and sprockets because I wanted to ride and it was to wet to go offroad for so long. I now go back and forth between SM and offroad. What a blast its been sort of the be best of all worlds in one bike.

I would think so if hyper-motards count (or whatever you want to call the big ones). :icon_bigg We're all one big family. :laughing6

So far I really like it. I'm going to need to get track tires before taking it back out to the track though It has plenty of power and feels lighter than it is. I just wish it had a tach. :confused1

It so quiet with the stock exhaust that you can't really use that all the time for guessing rpm. Mostly I'm concerning with over-reving the bike on downshifts, preparing for turns and such. Once you get to know the bike well enough I'm sure you don't need it but it would be useful in the beginning. Also would be useful for setting the idle? :laughing6

I see. Have you considered opening up the exhaust any at all? I'll bet that monster would sound pretty good with a little relief.

In a month or two I'll get an exhaust for it. Too much going on right now to do it. I bet it will sound awesome.

I bet it will sound awesome. Are planning to get something aftermarket for it? I'd be kind of suprised if there is anything available yet? Are you planning to be at Vito's crawfish boil tomorrow? If so I think I'm going to make it so I can see your bike.
