So ... before you try to tell me I am wrong again ... here is a source of information.

What color am I looking for on the insulator tip?

A light tan color is perfect. Note that sometimes, depending on the fuel and additives, the color may be grey instead. If it is, light grey is acceptable. No color, or white, indicates a lean condition, or lack of fuel. Dark brown or black color indicates a rich condition, or excess fuel.

Normal spark plug color

Normal spark plug color should show a light tan on the insulator tip. You can see the light brown color begin to appear on the left side of the insulator in the image below.

Lean spark plug color

A lean spark plug will have little to no color on the insulator tip. Symptoms of running lean are overheating, bogging or loss of power, and delay of returning to idle from higher RPM’s.

Now I am not a master mechanic by any means. I can read and comprehend also. I already said I know I read the somewhere about the threads it could have been wrong. I have seen plenty of spark plugs with charred threads and black carbon build up.

Look at this lean spark plug .. notice the first few threads are black, discolored from the carbon caking on from plug getting hot from the lean condition.

But please tell me how wrong I am again.

01 GSX-R600 bogs down when I open up the throttle

Once again, It's more about the strap and electrode. I see talking is pointless. Continue on. Just not with me. Btw a carbon build up isn't lean. Carbon burns to white in a lean condition. That part is black because it doesn't see the cylinder heat. It doesn't protrude into the combustion chamber. We are don't. Arguing isn't interesting me today

Mean people are the reason that membership is down. People are not signing up like they used to a year ago. Or so I've been told. Lol

Thanks for all the advice fellas, but no need to get in a feud over who's right or wrong. With all the variables I guess it could be a myriad of different things wrong with the bike. I'll double check both just to rule out any possibilities. Thx again.

Have you made sure none of the hoses to the tank are kinked?
