bike thoughts

OK people I'm looking to pick up another bike for just riding around town and riding two up with my ladie. So no more super street bike. I have been looking for a naked bike that is more up right seating and comfortable and safe for two. The bike that so far caught my eye are the ducati monster 1200 and triumph street triple. Any thoughts on this or other bikes I should consider. Like I said though has to be able to ride two up comfortablie.

Triple is a badass especially for 2 up. The modern monster is nice with all the bells and whistles but the pre 2008 monsters are completely better bikes and great for the money on an s4 or or 900 monsters

A SPEED triple would be very similar to the STREET triple but slightly bigger chassis and a 1050 motor that is pretty awesome. There is also the ktm duke series that has anywhere from a 390-1290 motor. Also there is the Yamaha fz-09 that got amazing reviews. Then there is a aprilia tuono and BMW s1000r.

Try them all and buy the one you like the most. I didn't particularly enjoy two up on my street triple because the seating position still had us bumping helmets. Great bikes and a ton of fun. I put 4500 miles on my street triple in 3 months before someone killed it.

Is Yamaha still making the FZ-1? The FZ-09 was my initial suggestion, might also take a look at the Kawi Z-1000 if you're just looking for naked street style.

Yes definitely want a sport type bike. My money limit and is no more then 15k but has to be worth it. I'm not looking for super speed but still want something with to go. Just want one that can provide the best for comfort and fun. Tuono is hard seat for me and small back seat. Kinda like the shiver a little tho

But most monsters I do see are around 8k used when new ones 10_13000. So I rather buy new if only 2k different. But do love monsters more and more

The street triple doesn't have enough nuts for two up IMHO. A torquey bike is soooo much better than a screamer for two up street riding. The SPEED triple is a better bike, but hardly a pillion for a passenger unless she is less than 125lbs and 5'5. I think the CB1000r or the Z1000 would both be better than a monster or triple (speed or street). If your not needing a tone of speed, maybe look a CB1100 retro type from Honda.

Yes she is small maybe like 5'4 but like 150lbs. And I'm like 6foot and 160lbs. So ya ninja 650 had some power but looking for a little more or similar

Ride a 14 or a Busa. Your budget is good for either. Like a couch that hauls . No slouch in cornering. They both seem light once you're moving

Your post confuses me, a street triple with 105hp and close to 50ft lbs of tq at all Rpms isn't enough power but he isn't looking for a ton of speed so go with an old cb1100?

If you are trying to be super squid with a passenger and going 300kmph on the shoulder then I agree, the street triple is not enough for that. Any thing within reason though and the street triple has plenty.

I will say the street triple isn't exactly comfy for a passenger either. How often will you be 2 up? Every weekend for a 100 mile ride or once a month to the movies? To me none of the sport nakeds are going to do amazing at two up comfort wise. Something more sport tourer might be ideal. I've heard nothing but good things about the ninja 1000.

Another bike I found to be extremely fun and powerful is the aprilia caponord 1200, new it's a little out of your price range but will do two up easily(automatically adjust preload and damping). It might not be sporty enough for you but I had great fun. I would mainly suggest this if you enjoy longer rides though. It is 500 lbs 125hp and 85tq. Just a thought.

As far as riding two up. Probably like once a week for 40 miles or so. Otherwise just me to and from work. Yes no squid stuff that time has passed and just want to have fun and enjoy the ride.
Thank you all for some info to think about on what might be a good match for me

Just test ride as many as you can and get one you like. Give the Caponord a chance you may be surprised. Make sure to see what the lady thinks as well. No point if she is never going to bother to get on the bike.

For the weights mentioned any of the bikes will have plenty of power. I rode two up on a ninja 500 just fine.

I think Houston super bike does aprilia test rides. If you're up for the drive then AF1 in Austin/new braunsfel has a demo caponord.

Definitely not the street triple. It has the power to do it, but I was pretty uncomfortable from wharton to galveston.
