Why am I here?

Hello. I am new to this forum and am somewhat out of your league. Although I have been riding sportbikes for thirty some years I am sixty so I am slowing down some. I found this forum in searching for a slipper clutch for my 2007 R6s which is a replacement for my last bike which was an FZR400. You folks have the advantages of being somewhere with better weather, I am in Northern Illinois, and probably better access to track days. I have one local track. Although I am older I still love riding fast and the concentration it takes that gets me away from the drudgery of the work world.

Rider on the left is in his 70s and he's an active flat track racer. He's the great uncle to the flat track racer on the right.

WAIT! Only one track nearby? Gingerman Raceway 2 hours east of Chicago, Road America 2 hours north of Chicago. Autobahn Country Club in Joliet?

Ok, my work is done here. Welcome to MotoHouston, from a former Northern Illinoiser. I kinda hate to admit that.

Blackhawk Farms still around and doing track days and WERA/CCS too?

Welcome! There are a lot of folks on the board of all ages. The varied levels of life and riding experience keeps it interesting and entertaining.

Also originally from Illinois - though from the Southern end of the state. I moved to the South in the '90s (and Texas in 2009) and never looked back. Welcome aboard.

pretty sure blackhawk was the track he referred to as nearby since it's pretty much on the IL/WI stateline just north of Rockford....but yes, still doing trackdays there hosted by midwesttrackdays I believe.

Definitely not as many tracks centrally located, but they are out there.

StevieBoy - Welcome to MH.

Dbuck...
I am a native Houstonian (not House-tonian-Houstonian)...so I'm a little curious...

'Illinoiser" ...how is that pronounced? Please correct me, if I am wrong, but I think I remember learning that the S in Illinois is silent; is that correct?

And if so, how does that work with 'Illinoiser"

GOSH!...Apparently I'm an old-timer too...don't remember my geogrophy/grammer lessons... LOL.

maybe it's Illinoisan....i don't give a because I'm a Texan. lol but yes, the S is silent and in either scenario would have a "Y" sound.

Yep Illinoisan is right and the 's' is silent. Of course with our unemployment, high corporate tax, governors in prison and many other politicians that should be tarred and feathered maybe you could just call us "suckers."
