Ninja 300 engine swap.

As some of you know, my buddy bought the ninja 300 that had the locked up engine. Started on it today a little bit. Got all the plastics off and looked for an oil leak. Couldn't find one. I thought I saw something behind the countershaft sprocket, but it turned out to be caked up chain grease. The oil filter was dented but not leaking. No oil in the sight glass. There was oil on the drain plug. Maybe it slowly leaked out in 5000 miles

Intresting. So are you going to pull the motor to swap, or rebuild it?

What's the total build going to be around $$ wise? I found a buddy with a 250 that needs a motor. Curious to how much work needs to go into getting it all ready to go. I want a track bike and I like the looks of the newer 250's!!

250's are a ton of fun on the track or street. As far as making a track bike out of one I probably have about $1500 into mine. Tires, chain conversion, jet kit, track plastics, paint job, and the list goes on.

Yeah that was a sweet deal. If he rides it for a while then decides he wants something bigger let me know. I'm looking for a bike for my son. I thought about getting him a 600 but I keep remembering his first day riding a dirt bike. I went in to get some water and came out and caught him building a ramp. I asked "What are you doing?" he replied with "I'm going to jump the house!" X-Games lol
