R1 for sure.. Preferbly 04-08.. Pre-cross plane.. However I'd still take a cross plane over and R6.

If you know in you're heart you really want an R1, you'll never be completely happy with anything else.

My favorite R1s are the 04 (candy red/burgandy), 06 (blue/white), 07 (black raven)

I had a 04 R6 and 04 R1 and I personally liked the R1 . Even though it had more power I never felt like it was violently fast. I tracked both at TWS (Texas World Speedway) and MSRH and even though the R6 flicked better I had more fun with the R1

I've owned a 600 in the past and now have a 1000. There is definitely a big difference between the two. From my experience, I can corner a lot better in the 600 than I can in my liter bike. The liter bike is definitely more powerful; however, you have to know your limits and respect the gain of power with the liter bike. They both have uses whether its on the track or the streets. It all boil downs to what you want to use it for and how much experience and respect you have for the bike. Of course, I don't have a R1 nor an R6, I'm just talking the difference between the classes.

You're less likely to end up shiny side down on the r6. Way cheaper insurance too.

I loved my 08 CBR1000RR, which is one of the lightest/best handling 1000's ever made, but I was still way slower than when on my zx6 or my buddy's 600rr.

If you're just driving around town go 1000. If you want to ride fast and develop your skills, the r6

Shop around for insurance. If you can't afford having an insured R1, Then go R6. Mind you, Insurance isn't the ONLY expense liter bikes will have. They also go through tires a whole lot faster. If you can afford it... get the R1. not having to switch around gears and pretty much stay in 3rd or 6th cruising is nice.

I think both the r6 and r1 look too fat. R1 crossplane does sound badass though, probably the only reason id get one

I have an 09 R1 and love it! Granted, it's modified a bit from stock but it is one incredible bike. It's big but I'm big too so it suits me great. I'll never sell it. My .02

The R1 yes, R6 isn't fat at all.

I have an R6 and I've wanted an R1 since I was 18 lol. I've been second guessing myself with all the bad reviews lately though. That being said I love my R6, I'd just like a little more torque on the low end. You'll be happy with either to be honest.

Has to do with the crank shaft and firing intervals.

I have a 2009 r1.. It's pretty fast and "flikkable"

I also have a 2006 r6. Very forgiving.
