A little rant

One thing that has been annoying me is this ever recurring poser this poser that, squid this squid that. Everyone knows what they should do. Everyone has different styles of riding, personal preferences in their bike/clothing style, gear, brand, whatever you name it. I respect that, why can't others. We all also have differing riding styles, I prefer to ride with those whom I trust, with gear on, and at a comfort level suitable to myself
(you shouldn't give a rats if someones bike is lowered/painted with wild graphics/has dancing lights on it/stretched/chromed/chopped/screwed/scrambled/whatever).

Another thing I have noticed on here everyone is "take it to the track this" and "take it to the track that". When lo and behold they go out on a public twisty road and tear the living out of it for fun.

Just getting some things in perspective...

poser = someone acting like something they are not

squid = someone acting like a complete moron on a bike riding well beyond his or her limits often with little to no protection

Yes - there are posers

and Yes - there are squids

BTW.. this is all i agree with..

if someone has a stretched, stunted, chromed bike and they dont ride it... they are posing... which i dont find all that cool. when i see a kid on a bike with a cage and 12 bar and he cant even pull the front wheel up.. that frustrates me.

but other than that do what you please with your bike.. :icon_bigg

::standing ovation:: "Good Job!!!!"

Thank you for putting that out there....I'm getting kind of tired of the "holier than thou" attitude I've seen lately. It's ridiculous and a waste of time. People do what people want to do.....let it be

I think forums have a tendency to aquire a mob mentality in the fact that people go along with the mass. Like you will get a whole bunch of people agreeing that this is a good post.............not pointing at anyone just saying in general.

I hear ya. And I won't lie, I think it is up to everyone to decide what, when, where, how they want to ride. Everyone wants to call out someone else when they know well they don't do everything "by the book". Some of the main ppl who talk about squids don't wear boots when they ride, some don't even have thier license! And they claim that the reason they do this is to educate. You don't educate by degrading others, it's just a reason to try to make themselves look all high and mighty. If someone chooses not to use gear, oh well, that's their choice. Who are you to think you need to blast your opinion about ppl you don't even know, and their circumstances.

Oh Gawd this hit a sensitive spot. . .I was just in the garage, and I fingerdrew "ride me" in the dust on poor baby fiddy. Soooooooooon, the semester will end; my demons will go away; the nights will once more be mine--no more getting up at 5am.

I personally don't care what you ride or how.
As a certified bike nut I like almost all kinds of bikes and can appreciate the skills required for all types of riding.
However, I will give my opinion that the street is not a race track nor a place to stunt.
