4. I can apply the brakes in .5 seconds, I'm sure the idiot on the bike could too if he chose to. Sport bikes are made for stopping, that's why they have two giant discs mounted to the front wheel, plus he's not riding any old sport bike, he's riding the Ferrari of sport bikes, that bike can stop in a short distance
5. In the law there's what's known as the "clean hands doctrine". If this rider appears before a judge to try to collect damages from the van driver, how do you think this doctrine might apply?
So basically since there is a video showing him breaking a traffic law which could have directly influenced the collision .. BAM .. he is screwed.

As far as the law, speeding and failure to control his vehicle is his biggest mistake. I dare him to bring a clean video (no blurring of the speed display) to court.

The judge will say "courts don't help folks that break the law". You have to come to court with "clean hands".

That is definitely interesting, I wonder if the cop took the cameras in as evidence.

Don't think so, how would the rider have downloaded the video?

If it happened back in January then he could have gotten it back by then. They would just need the footage off of it and then could give it back. If the cop didn't take it then that is a huge mistake by him doing his job.

They don't give evidence back until after a trial and I don't think they would even collect it unless it was a criminal investigation which this is not, and apparently there were no serious injuries and certainly no deaths

No just an expensive bike with questionable fault. Someone has to pay for it and the video would help determine who.

Cops don't investigate civil matters. That's on the party that suffered damages and or the insurance companies

Police officers generally will determine who is at fault though. Anyways I'm gonna let this thread sink down to the depths from whence it came.

If they don't witness it and no one is seriously injured, they won't even write a ticket.

Thanks for the laughs. I am sure all of you are nice guys, but some are clearly more educated than others on this thread.

I am a bit concerned for some of you guys. Don't worry though. I will pray for y'all.
