Any1 on MotoH own a FZ-09?

Anyone on the board own an FZ-09?

If so what bike did you ride primarily before it, and how do you like it now?

current sv-haver considering a possible purchase and wondering if i'll enjoy it more or less than my 08 SV

Don't have one, but I'd love to! Might have to sell a bike to get it.

what don't you like about the SV? I've been interested in the FZ-09 myself, but knowing what you do and don't like about the SV may lead to a more productive conversation than simply asking for a comparison between it and the FZ.

Bought a bike form K's motorsports the other day, they had a nice red FZ-09 there, sat on it, felt great.

Just curious, what did you not like about it?
When I bought my Speed Triple at the end of last year I half considered the FZ but never got a chance to ride one.
I'd be interested in your perspective.

The suspension was super soft and not adjustable. The throttle was super twitchy, and when I say twitchy I mean almost uncontrolable. I couldn't get the hang of it. Although the clutch worked well, it was a really soft pull. The motor was ok but it felt scooterish, it didnt have much powerband. You definitely made the right choice by going with a triumph.

I've been really happy with the Speed 3.
I'd heard about the throttle issue. Apparently there's a "fix" but I've been very unsatisfied with Yamaha's fly by wire throttle on their other bikes.
It's a shame because it seems like it could be a great bike.

Ive been eyeing the fz9 since the first time I saw one in one of the moto magazines. It was a huge disappointment when I finally rode one.

Did you change the throttle mode?
Apparently "A" mode is exactly as you describe, but "B" is almost perfect i've heard.

Sorry if it came off that way. I was just wondering if you had different input if you had rode one. Ride before you buy for sure on the fz09.

Search for yamaha demo day threads from a month or so ago. Most of us wanted to try it.... and most of us had the same opinion. It was held at Houston Motorsports.

I didn't mind the suspension, but I weigh 130lbs, and am not afraid to respring and add emulators later.

Throttle wasn't great... quite annoying... but I wonder if you'd get accustomed to it after longer than a 30min ride.

I think for the price, it's great. But to match the other similar bikes on the market, you'll be upgrading things.

It had more power everywhere than the SV (though I didn't REALLY dog on it hard being a demo event). Definitely more upright, and forgot about any wind protection.
Space for your feet was kind of an issue, may depend on shoe size and body type.

+1 Agree on this. Triumphs Triple is much more refined.

Theres nothing about the SV i dont like that wouldnt be compounded by an upgrade to the FZ-09 (like wind protection, chain drive, etc.) but more power would be nice.

That being said, im not using the SV to its full potential at the moment anyway, but its been one of a commuter bike for me, having nearly 35k mi on an 08 (that i got in 09 w/ 750mi) the engine has taken a mass of miles quickly, its "my little soldier" considering it was a salvage when purchased by me, and i would probally miss it dearly if i did upgrade, i just would love more power out of it, better braking, a more secure response in cornering, all of which i know can be modded to a somewhat better standard but yeah then you start thinking about upgrading again.
