I used to live in Houston, and did many a trip back home to Colo.
I have a decent idea of roads between here and there, and have driven most of them.
I ride a "sport" bike.. and wouldn't wish the drone on the highways to get here in any decent amount of time on anyone.
You can look at the map, and add up the miles. Figure stopping every couple hours just for gas on the average sportbike.
Weather here, especially at higher elevations, changes in a second. Most mountain roads don't clear and open up until June.
And if you are interested in the green stuff, be prepared for a background check just so you can buy.

Possible yes, plausible/enjoyable - not in that timeframe.

My recommendation. Drive up to Colorado in a truck with both bikes on truck bed. park the truck at some safe place and ride Colorado.

I appreciate that recommendation. However I would miss the experience of a long trip on my bike. That's one o of the reasons of taking our bikes? Definitely going to be an adventure and learning experience. Hope all goes well. Wish us luck Mark!

That's awesome. You'll love it. Just that the Texas part of the ride is just soooo boring!!
Anyway, wish you the best of lucks, and great time Keith!!

I did a road trip in a cage to Colorado and back and it took us about 20 hrs stopping for nothing but gas and speeding at every chance... I bet being on a bike will take longer. my bike trips always take longer than my car trips.

I wish ya luck on this trip. But it certainly won't be a picnic. Do yourself a favor and get 4 guys in a truck and trailer at least to the edge of the mountains. I've done this drive 50 times and at no point did I ever even consider doing it on a sport bike. Certainly not non-stop.

I'd go for Arkansas in the same time frame, and if it works out, then build up to Colorado. Hot Springs is only 401 miles, 6 hours, and the riding in Arkansas is better than Colorado.

FWIW, I'm only in this thread cause I thought it was a sleepover opportunity at the Colorado Club on 59!

I've ridden to Pike's Peak twice, never in one hard ride. Add a little time and ride to Trinidad Co. then Co. Springs. Stay in western Co. Eastern Co. is a lot like Texas. Crossing the Texas prairie SUCK. We camped the whole eight day ride. The weather can change in a second above 5000 feet. Sound like a great ride. Good luck!
