$40 for the weekend at my friends property. It's 10 min from the track in the opposite direction from Austin. So that means no traffic.

Take a tent at stay at McKinney Falls State Park, they have showers with hot water, and are right outside of Austin.

Hi there

My friend and I are driving out from California for Moto GP.

We cant wait to check out this track and see how Austin does Moto GP. Is there a big gathering in down town Austin like there is in Monterey, California? Are there good parties in the campgrounds at night? Are the cops all over, uptight and in clamp down mode? Is there anything in Austin I dont want to miss?

I cant believe Im going. It's sort of last minute plans. I never thought I'd be coming to Austin, Texas for Moto GP. If anything I thought it would be for music.

We will be staying about 35 miles from Austin at a friend's house on Friday. We're winging where we will be staying Saturday night. We can always go back to the house but prefer to hang out at the track or where ever the fun is on Saturday night. We are bringing our sleeping bags and a tent, and always have the bed of my truck to sleep in if need be. We were thinking about parking aways from the track somewhere, unloading the bikes and riding in. I doubt we will find a room this late but ya never know how things can pan out last minute by chance.

If there are any hots tips evolving around Moto GP or the Austin area let me know. Like roads to avoid, the best places to eat, park, best turns to spectate in, best places to celebrate the race, as in parties we dont want to miss. We're just not sure how things are done here in Texas. At home I have my "how I roll at Moto GP." It took a couple of years to figure out the best way to do the weekend. We typically spend one night in down town for fun and Saturday night around the campgrounds where they are some really great parties and people. Only one year I stayed in a hotel. The rest I have always camped and really enjoyed doing so.

So anyhow, if you see two ladies in a Chevy truck with Cali plates, with two supermoto bikes in the back, honk and say "hello" to us. You know, like a big ol friendly Texas greeting We'll be happy to see you and offer you a cold beverage

This will be my 5th time to Moto GP. I have never had a bad experience there. Always, always good racing, people, riding and fun.

Cheers,
Sun

It is not the closest but I am staying at Lake Travis. Will have a nice drive in and out but a cool place to stay, specially since I am taking my parents to look after the kids.

Would be cool to get a group going from Houston too. We are planning on leaving Friday returning Sunday.
Thanks.
We're leaving around 8:30 AM

Friend's shop, Revival Cycles, will be hosting The Handbuilt Show, in coordination with COTA/MotoGP. The shop and their builds have been featured on Jay Leno's Garage...Jay even rode one of their bikes. Friend's post earlier today: "For everyone planning to attend, THANK YOU! The crew at Revival has worked many months to put together this amazing, FREE show for everyone. Bringing in top names in custom motorcycles, a great venue, Wall of Death, DJ's, food, drinks, etc. If you enjoy the show at all, please show your gratitude by buying some Revival merchandise and encouraging your friends to do the same, so we can keep this show FREE and encourage everyone to enjoy motorcycles as much as we do!"

http://www.handbuiltmotorcycleshow.com

Everyone is invited! And it's FREE!! Their bikes are very cool. Go check em out! There's plenty of parking for bikes out front, too!

Oh, and, WELCOME TO AUSTIN!

Does anyone know good camping spots close around Austin? Preferably with hot showers.
