I've heard good things about Houston super bike but not dealt with them. AF1(the ones who sponsor the forum listed above) in Austin/new braunsfel are a great bunch of guys. If you call them they will help you out. Also they may have the owners manual for dload at www.af1racing.com.

Not everyone on here is a , there will be plenty of people willing to help you progress and get better.

Chris, Riding a 250 ain't hard, I've seen 8 yr olds do it.

I ran your lap time on it at TWS (Texas World Speedway) :-)

I actually got my bike at AF1. One dude, I'm guessing he was in sales, was a little off on the modes. Thanks for the contributions.

As far as others, I truly hope the rest of the members are sincerely welcoming and has not grown old and bitter. But perhaps calling someone an idiot for getting what he likes is a way of compensating for lacking elsewhere.

There's a reason he has his own smiley...

Now if you'd posted here before getting a bike asking for recommendations, I don't think you'd have a single vote for an RSV. Recommendations would be along the lines of a 250/300cc ninja, maybe as big as an sv650. I don't know anyone that recommends people start out on "big" bikes, regardless of what you like. Reasoning being "it's not your last bike (hopefully), it's your first", and "you WILL drop it." Both of those prove true for 99% of people who don't kill themselves on their first bike.

Good luck and stay safe out there. (...and just to get on Ed's side for a second,) If you haven't yet, take an MSF course. It could save your life. Also, stay off the 610 loop on Wednesday night.

Welcome!

Not trying to start but I gotta disagree a little. While I wouldn't necessarily encourage somebody to start with a big bike it isn't always a disaster.
Many of us have started on big bikes and done fine. As long as you realize your limitations and remember the bike will only do what you tell it, you can be as safe as on a smaller bike.
Saying you "will drop it" and that it's true for "99% of us" is a little over the top too.

You're right. We should all start on a 150+ hp liter bike, because the power curve is more linear and everyone has perfect throttle/clutch control.

Anyway, I'm curious to see the results.

It seems like whenever I log into motohouston and choose a random thread, it always becomes a pile of by the end. I've never experienced such a forum with a wide variety of skilled riders, squids, , sarcastic people (hilarious btw), homos, new riders, people with a short fuse, posers, cmra riders, good and bad. So what's the next off topic bashing? Lol

Sounds like OP had his question answered. I didn't mean to bash OP for his choice in bike, but did point out what the recommendation might have been.

Yeah, lots of people start out bigger and are fine. Many more don't.
http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=280554

Turns out that was the son of a co-worker of mine from my last job.

So yeah, I'll bow out of this thread with the same closing statement I used before...

I'm loving it. I just tune it down to R to learn. The S and T are about the same. A bit tall, mirrors could use a tweak, and no gas gauge.
