Battery draining?

I have a 2004 gsxr 750 and So I installed leds on bike with a switch the other night the bike began backfiring and shooting flames and then my gauges shut to 0 and wouldn't read, replaced battery Earlier today and left lights disconnected and within a hour it did it again? After searching I'm thinking it may be the stator but am not positive and don't know how to check if it is.

have you put a meter on the battery? in the off position it should be reading around 12.5 and when running around 14.5

just a general question cause leds do not draw that much power ... but did you put them on their own fuse and wire that to the battery?

LEDs were wired to a toggle switch then too battery, hadn't installed a inline fuse yet, but when i installed new battery I left leds completely off, and same issue, haven't had chance to take meter to it yet, thinking it may be stator but don't know how to confirm or even begin to check it
