Almost ate today at TWS (Texas World Speedway) turn 1

Who woulda thought that painted line was slippery?

First time at TWS (Texas World Speedway) so I don't know the lines as well as I should...

It was cold in the morning. What tires are you running? You got lucky. Take your time learning the local tracks.

Brand new Bridgestone S20's at 32 psi cold (cheap dot's). They were scrubbed in and warmed up, I definitely got lucky! My stabilizer saved my when it went to swappin!

The Q3 is a good all around tire that I trust. I run 32 front and 30 rear for track and street use. I'm glad you didn't get hurt and rode it out in the grass.

Dang, wrecking a ktm rc8 would sure make a grown man cry.

LOL @ brick comment. I used a gopro hero2, but I used the suction cup mount and obviously it ended up being unstable! I didn't want to use one of those killer sticky mounts on my aprilia paint or windscreen... I was on street plastics

lol not when your Ty Howard and a regional sales/mgr for KTM and basically fully sponsored factory rider. Ty was and still is the fastest man on 2 wheels I've seen and that's why he holds almost all the track records on CMRA tracks.

glad you saved it buddy. wouldn't wanna have to go pick up pieces and be putting her back together at the apt with ya :(

I dont know anything about those tires really but 32 cold seems high for a track day. Particularly when it's cold out.

they're street tires, not actual race DOT's. 30 probably would have been better, but id ask whoop since he is the bridgestone tire vendor.

nice save....the only traction issue I had was in session 3 when I committed to passing in the gravity bowl, swing a little wide and rear started stepping out as I accelerated up the hill. Not bad for Q2's and no warmers, ran 30 psi cold...checked after second session and they were at 34 hot and dropped them back down to 30. it felt good to be on the track again...

Yea.. I know they're street tires but I think I used to run around 28 cold when I first started on street tires.

But yea.. ask Whoop.

Ty Howard T1 TWS (Texas World Speedway) Crash - YouTube
Not the same.
Ty hit the pothole that you can only hit if you are coming off the grid. I know, because I've hit it and crashed also.

Whoop said run 30-32 cold in the morning rider's meeting. He didn't specify if that was in regards to a DOT street tire or race tire. I don't like to way tires wheel when they are low (feels like I have to fight it to tip in), so I went with the 32psi. I'm not very fast so I think they only raised up 1psi when hot.
