Lucky for the organizers and track management they can shrug their shoulders and say tough , Otherwise they would have lost some money.
Thank the riders were willing to take it in the shorts for their benefit.

I'd wait and see what happened. In the past, LSTD has been known to do refunds at Cresson when rained out.

Even if not, I'm not aware of any racing organization that offers refunds if it rains, ride or go home is generally the rule of thumb.

If they get a refund, that would be great. But it's not a race, there is no competition and a lot of folks don't wanna risk their street bike in the rain.
They also don't wanna risk $120+ months in advance with NO other recourse than go home and leave the cash at the track.
There needs to be a change so that the riders don't carry ALL the financial risk if the weather is too bad to ride.

What would you suggest?

Put yourself into the track day providers shoes. You rent the track, you pay for your corner workers / track marshals / instructors hotel rooms, you take care of the other costs incurred in doing a track day, ambulance, etc. and then it rains, what would you do?

The track owners all pretty much have the same policy, the track rental is rain or shine, there is no refund.

It is no different than if it were an outdoor concert or reserving a plantation for an outdoor wedding.

Everyone signing up for a trackday acknowledges the risk involved.

It's all a moot point though until we hear what Lone Star has decided to do.

From what ive heard they did give credit to the riders, however this is not policy and should never be expected. Like Patrick said its rain or shine...

I guess you could offer weather insurance, but then everyone would be when it doesnt rain.
