Rip Rider MN Pothole

http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2014/0...hole-on-i-394/

Quote:
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 30-year-old New York man was killed late Tuesday night after the motorcycle he was riding on Interstate 394 hit a pothole and threw him from the vehicle, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities said the crash happened at about 9:51 p.m. on eastbound I-394 at Theodore Wirth Parkway in Minneapolis. When authorities arrived, a 2009 Honda motorcycle had been traveling eastbound when it hit a pothole and the driver lost control. He was ejected from the motorcycle, and the State Patrol announced him dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as Anand Baskaran of East Northport, New York.
It’s the first fatal motorcycle crash of 2014. The State Patrol said through its investigation, Baskari was likely traveling in speeds of up to 120 miles per hour. Authorities said they are also looking for another motorcyclist who allegedly fled the scene of the crash.
The State Patrol said Baskaran was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and unsafe and illegal speeds played a major role in the circumstances of the incident.
“Speeds that fast are a recipe for disaster,” said Lt. Jason Bartell with the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities said the crash serves as a good reminder for motorcyclists to ride with extra caution as we prepare to transition to spring. Motorcyclists are encouraged to take training courses before getting back out on the road this spring.

No helmet and riding way over the limit.

Man i hate to see that.

On the other hand, here in IL the pot holes are terrible and can really mess you up even at normal speed.

RIP to the rider.

That's never good to hear. Not surprised to hear the potholes are that bad though, especially after the brutal winter they had. 394 inside Minneapolis is particularly terrible.

Was on the SW Freeway yesterday afternoon doing 70mph when a pickup in front of me suddenly swerved to avoid a giant stuffed bear in my lane.

Why on earth was he riding already? Way too much salt and sand on the roads at this time of the year in MN.

At 120mph, wouldn't the bike just fly right over the pothole? Must have been a great big hole.
