Teaching my girl how to ride HER 636.... PICS!

Alright guys,
I just wanted to share this with yall and i snapped a few quick pics at the end of the practicing tonight. Sorry they are kinda dark and **y but i didnt think about taking pics till last minute and it was already sunset so ill get more later as she makes even more progress.

I have had my girl Raya learning to ride for the past while now. She learned the first bit of mechanics on a GS500 that a guy owns down the street from her that was kind enough to let her ride it as much as she needed to learn the basic controls of the bike. She has been doing surprisingly well on it so i decided to see how she would do on the 636. I took her to a parking lot and explained that this bike would be alot different than the 500 and explained what to expect and let her take it from there. She is by no means ready for the street IMO but she did awesome!! I wanted to get her practicing on the 636 since it is now her bike and she needs to get used to how it handles and feels. Well, i took her out this afternoon and let her ride around the big parking lot at Clear Brook High School practicing her starting/stoping, turning, accelerating, braking, etc. on this bike for the first time. To my surprise, she is suprisingly comfortable on it and did really well!! It wont be too long before she will be able to come out riding with us if she keeps this up but i want her to ride backroads for awhile before i move her up to light traffic roads and then eventually, longer rides with more traffic and then freeway rides when she is ready. She will be taking a MSF course in the next week or 2. I want her to get it done ASAP since she will be riding this bike from now on.

Anyways guys, im proud of her that she did so well on her bike. I expected her to be sketchy on the it after riding the 500 but she wasnt! Ill be getting her to sign up on motohouston with us soon so maybe she can get in on some of those all girls rides and meet some other girl riders.

Now i wanted to ask, where is best place to take MSF on my side of town???

LMK. Thanks guys!!

Looking nice. Kudos to you for explaining things to her. I've seen couples get into huge fights over trying to teach things.

I don't know if it just looks like it on the pic but tell her to relax her elbows. Have her flap them like wings to make sure she is relaxing and not putting weight on her wrists. May just be the pic though.

Time for gear!

The MSF will be great for her.

that clear brook parking lot is awesome. lots of room there.

as far as MSF, id recommend making the drive to awesome cycles. Challen and Louie are cool guys, and make the class fun.

Yeah, im trying to get her to relax a little more when she rides but it gets better everytime. She was kinda tense due to riding her bike for the first time so that might have something to do with it or maybe it is just the pics.

I try my best to explain everything to her and be patient when im teaching her because it is obviously easier said than done until you have the experience in doing it personally like she is working up to now.

I need to get her some gloves, boots and riding pants. I need riding pants and boots for myself that i should be getting very soon.

best advise I can give is get someone else to teach her because there is a better then average chance that it will cause a fight and she will shut you off and stop learning.

Ok cool. Thanks for the info man. I know there is one at san jac central but not sure how good it is. I also heard they hold one at stubbs but no offense to any stubbs guys on here but i hear it sucks! lol I know a guy that went through the course over there and paid like 300+ for it. It was a 2 day course but he said it didnt teach him much which is obviously true as he laid the bike over twice in the SAME DAY(once at an intersection turning onto bay area and again in the kroger gas station parking lot) and 4 times in the same week!! Previous to those 2 i explained, his very first one was on a corner in the back of my neighborhood where he slid out the first night he got his black/red 06 gsxr 600 and he dropped it in front of my house trying to move it. lol

I heard from others that the course over there wasnt so good as well. Like i said, not sure how credible the info is but just going off what i have heard.

Obviously that guy wasnt meant to ride! lol He was a douche bag anyway. Some guy my sister was talking to awhile back. lol Glad she blew him off!!

I agree man. Im looking forward to her taking the MSF course for that reason but we havent had any problems so far in me teaching her. She is a good listener and she does what i tell her to do the best she can as she is getting more and more comfortable on it.

on this side of town (Friendswood) I think the closest would be the course offered at the central San Jac campus. That's where I took my class.

sounds like your friend took the "riders edge" course, HD's MSF. and HCC also has a class at I-10E and 610 at their truck driving school.

and theirs classes down in Galveston, i can recommend the inst. down there.

or LMK, when she's thinking about taking it, and i'll get you my schedule.
