05 GSXR 600 Key

Hi All,

I'm on the NW side of town and wanted to see if anyone knew of a locksmith that is inexpensive for making a secondary key for my bike. I was quoted a price of $45, is this the going rate for getting a key made.

That depends. Do you have the original, and is it a transponder key? If it's a simple, generic type of key, and you can get a blank, any locksmith should be able to cut it, I think I payed $5.00 to have one cut once.

If it's a transponder key, though, that's a different story. You'll probably have to go to a dealer or use this guy I found online. I had an Italian scooter once that didn't come with a master key, and no one in town had a machine that could clone the code inside the one I had, so I ended up having to send it off to this guy I found online. Took a week or so, but there were no problems, I think the new key, cloning, and shipping cost about $30.

Here's the link. This guy did a great job.
