Got a free bike :)

I picked up a free 89 KX80 yesterday. It needs a hard cleaning to remove the years of shed dirt/dust but the bike is 90% all together. the original owner's son dismantled it years ago wanting to clean it up, repaint etc. but was not able to get it all back together. The PO finally got tired of seeing the basket of parts sitting in his shed and finally starting putting it back together.

And that is how it has sat for the last few months. It was running before the son took it apart so I am pretty sure that I can get it back to life pretty easy. Stuff for this bike seems to be pretty darn cheap

So my brother in law is coming over this morning and we are going to spend an afternoon cleaning and fixing as much as we can in one day and hopefully have it at least running by the end of the day.

When my 3 year old son saw me unloading it from the truck his eyes got HUGE and asked "Dad is that MY bike?!" told him when he fits he can ride it. My oldest also asked to learn to ride.

its pretty ugly now, but should clean up pretty easy.

Here it is getting its first bath in who knows how long..

DSCN6444 zps441bd5c7

Spent about 3 hours cleaning it up. Doing a bit of carb work.. Fired up on the 5th kick. May need to improve that a bit. Exhaust was cleaned / painted but my son did not like how loud it was so I am in a search to kill some of the noise. needs a brake overhaul and some more TLC.. but hey it started. I am happy

Nothing better than a free bike. Fix it up for the kids. If you need any Kawasaki parts let me know and I'll get you a 25% discount on OEM parts or 20% off any accessories you want. Bill at Wild West Motoplex, 281-392-8850.

Probably need to repack the silencer and it will make it a little quieter.
