Nice man. I picked up a 2014 690 duke last week, my first KTM. It is very hard to behave while breaking it in.

Congrats, I know what you mean. I am right at my 1st service miles and have yet to put it in Sport mode. Hit the red light several times in street, and dirt mode.

They ride better without a cracked frame, just sayin'. Your the one that got me hooked on them along with Grindio and Tankmonkey-thank you very much. Wouldn't trade my 990 Adv for anything.

Excellent and beautiful bike. I've been after this model since they first leaked the specs. What's not to like? A RC8 150hp engine in an Adventure bike frame, off road capable suspension, 6 gal tank for range, ABS that really works in the dirt and insurance rates 1/3 that of a sportsbike.

My only probably is I'm too cheap to shell out the 18K clams and buy a new one. So I have at least a 2-3 year wait for a used one.

Please update this thread with your review of the bike after you get more ride time in. Also very interested in anything reliability related to the RC8 engine.

It is fun, I paid $16799.00 out the the door. Then I have shelled out another 3k in extra's. Once I get the 1st service done I will turn it up and see how it does in the twisty bits. Good thing about Mo, is we have good fun roads everywhere south of the river. I remember when I lived in Katy, having to ride to Austin and West to get to the real good roads out around Perdanales State park and Marble Falls area.

I was ready to pull the trigger on an 1190 but I'm also looking () over the 1290 Super Duke

That's very good, nearly $1,000 off MSRP (more if you bought it in TX). Since they are just starting to roll into the dealers in decent numbers I wouldn't have expected them to drop on price yet.

Order a Couple from Freedom Cycles in Grandview, MO. I will do a couple deliveries to TX. I'm coming down for Moto Gp in April.

Congrats on the new bike, and welcome to the club. I have a 2012 Ducati Multistrada 1200- the reason your KTM exists, pretty much. Had I waited a couple more months, I very well could've ended up with a bike like yours!

They're truly do-it-all machines. Even more "sporty" than the sport-tourings, almost as capable long-haul as the touring bikes, and way easier to commute on than either. Adventure touring frame+superbike motor+street tires is an odd combination, but somehow it just works. Most comfortable bike I've ever ridden- even more comfortable than my maxi scooter. Now I'm amazed at how cramped and uncomfortable I feel riding any other type of bike for any good amount of time! And yes, put 'em in sport mode (high throttle response, unrestricted power, and very little traction control, I'm assuming?) and the power is exhilarating. Want to really have some fun? Take it to the drag strip sometime. Went up to Royal Purple in Baytown one Friday night with a couple of friends- with zero experience I was smokin' the 600s, and impressing the liter bike guys. Most fun I've had on my bike to date. Hope to see you around.

Dang, what dealer did you go to for that price? Assuming Freedom Cycles in Grandview, MO?
