The air filter is easily accessed with a Phillips head screw driver from the right side cover.

The bike should have had its valves adjusted 3 timed already with that mileage. Check your spark plugs and air filter.

Sounds like a bit more than the carbs then...if you need valving, you're in danger of losing your engine, pistons could lock up on you.

Thanks everyone for all the advice and help. I know I have been behind on the maintenance and upkeep for the bike (too new at thiis; I feel this is something that should be instinctual).

I seem to have gotten the bike running right again after the fuel treatment and some advice on gas. I hope to bring everything else up to speed and where the bike SHOULD be here in the next couple weeks (yay income tax!!).

Thanks again everyone for all of your help and for the pics/vids posted for visual aids. Will keep these all in mind as I continue to learn my bike.

Yeah, I would probably want to tear open the valve cover and check clearances, if they are super tight you may want to disassemble to inspect the surfaces of the valve itself. Did it have idle issues prior to this event?

I didn't want to say it. I can get a hard copy shop manual from Bill for $60. Let me look at the process before in offer to help out in that area.

Highly recommend you make your way over to ninjette.org and browse through the how to if you feel like tackling the valve adjustments and misc stuff.
