And no guarantees that you'll make it through RCP, its a tough 8.5 days-but well worth it when you make it.

Would anyone care to ride with me once the weather improves a bit? I don't ride very fast (65 mph tops) on my little 250cc; but any pointers or advice from a seasoned, sensible rider would be appreciated.

I took the BRC in July '13, and wear full gear all the time. I have my motorcycle endorsement and my bike is fully insured. If anyone doesn't mind riding with me for even 30 min, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I'll ride with you. When do you want to meet? I'll bring the 250 to keep me honest.

Or at least let the leader of a noob ride know that he is REALLY noob, prefereably before even showing up. They will welcome it, but may make sure that someone watches you, and gives you plenty of space.
Some people define noob as "only 10mph over speed limit".
Yeah I'm still barely at the speed limit, and the last thing I want to do is push myself before I'm ready and end up in the bushes. Think I may want a few weeks before I ride with a group

Not a bad idea. be comfortable first, but don't be afraid of the group either.

Like i said... I've been on group rides where they simply had the sweeper follow the true noob... even going under the speed limit, the others don't have to wait long. Most don't mind the minute to chat it up anyways. My first couple rides were yellow sign speeds through the corners (me concentrating, the bike behind me riding one handed and bird watching with all the free time).

Don't feel like anyone is pushing or pulling you... especially since they may run that road weekly, and you've never seen it before. Also, don't be afraid to say "this isn't for me, go ahead... I know my way home"

Also... part of the reason for noob announcement... so they know what you are comfortable with. Some guys figure speed limit through corners... but 10mph over, even on the hwy, is fine for EVERYONE. Lots of guys don't want to jump into 80mph with a group. Others are FINE with straight line/hwy... but have troubles in corners. just let the ride leader know ahead of time (via pm, pre-ride meeting, whatever)

You should ride with craig just to get used to riding with another person in general. He was the first person I met on here. He's a good guy and rides responsibly, you should be fine.

I'd say come meet me but I'm in cypress....I do however work on almeda/almeda genoa on the south side.

I would suggest riding with maybe 1 or two people first before going on a noob ride. My first noob ride with maybe 10 hours riding experience morphed into a triple digit thrill/terror ride thru country roads with a pack of 30 riders. Trial by fire so to speak lol

Sounds good man, I'm actually trying to get out of the office in the next 20 minutes and ride around town a bit, no destination just cruising and killing time if ya wanna come with.
