I have the same problem dboi. The type that comes with a ipod have been the most comfortable. I have tried two different Sennheiser ear buds. One locks into the ear and the other has a wrap around the ear. The sound is badass in both but are a pain to keep on while putting a helmet on. If you are successful they about rip you ear off when taking your helmet off.

Picked up a UClear 200 from one of my customers (used twice) for $100. Going to give it a try. Like that it is bluetooth so you get rid of the cable. I know its not the best in sound quality but should work.

I've had good luck with some of the Skull Candy ear buds, but my favorite so far are some cheap Altec Lansing ear buds I picked up online for about $5/pair, even have an inline mic and button so I can control the media player on my phone if I want.
