JUST A ?....HIDs

I kinda of heard it throu the great vein,is it TRUE that DOT wants to BAN HIDs off all vehicles(CAR,TRUCKS,BIKES).Due to many accidents that it causes on highways and roads, the brightness causes vision problems @ night for on coming traffic( old farts)....This is just sumthing that I heard, that in AUSTIN,TX there is talk of banning HIDs....Im just askin if any1 else has heard the same thing, that manufactors are takin them off the assembly lines...Once again Im just asking a ? :dontknow:

I think it already is illegal to put aftermarket HIDs on any vehicle. It's only legal if it comes stock on your vehicle. But my bike (handozizle's old bike) has HID's so I guess I'll find out sooner or later.

411 on HIDs

HIDs are legal if they are standard equipment on your application. DOT made it illegal to have them on a vehicle that didn't have them from the factory because stupid @$$ people(particularlly ricers)were stealing them or buying them stolen and cutting out the houseings on their civics and JBWelding, siliconing, and plasticwelding them in. They would do this and half the time the shyt would be pointing in the air and in the eyes of oncoming drivers as well as blinding the person your following, causing head on collisions. You have to have a special reflector for HIDs and most kits don't come with them, mainly because noones about to crack open their housing just for some BS like that. Most cops don't have the equipment to test for proper coverage area of your lights so theres really not too much to worry about. Manufacturers got around the ban by labeling their boxes,"for offroad use only". problem solved.

I love my Harley! Super thankful I took it home and traded for my truck at lunch yesterday though. Would have rather walked then ride in that shiat last night.
