This is the first official image of the Sportboxer and the closest thing to a Superbike BMW has ever built.

The 140bhp, 195kg (fully-fuelled) Sportboxer is leading BMWs assault on an all out, no compromises sports machine.

This weekend it will be competing in one of the worlds toughest endurance races, the Le Mans 24-hour. On track the Sport Boxer will be up against Yamaha R1s, Suzuki GSX-R1000s and Honda Fireblades; no small feat for an air-cooled, twin-cylinder giving away the best part of 50bhp.

The final production version of the Sport Boxer will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motorcycle Show in September, it is predicted the bike will cost 12,000 when it hits the showrooms in 2008
It's slated for '08 euro debut, but I'm hoping that it will find its way to this side of the pond too.

I dunno what to really say about it.
Kinda looks likes like a 999, 1KRR, and SV1000 all rolled into one.
Not saying I dont like it, but kinda strange looking.
My liquid cooled RC gets hot as in houston traffic, wonder how a air cooled twin would hold up.

bmw air cooled motors hold up really well as far as dissipating heat.

I got stuck on 290 traffic the other day and hit 253! I shut it off while I wasn't moving to cool it off.

that heats it up more. by starting it and stop it. keep that oil circulating and the coolant.

the rc will keep getting hotter and hotter idling. I would let it sit for a very short time and the water would circulate and come down to 248 then rise again to 250's and the temp light would come on. rc's are not known for their heat dissipating ability. They are known for cooking . Getting stuck in traffic is a very rare event for me so it really doesn't bother me.
