dirtbike question

hi.. i have a question my dirtbike sometimes get stuck in first gear and the bike wont move anybody no what mabe wrong with it and how to fix it, all other gears are fine thanks for the help.

does the bike shift through all the gears, but you stall out in first?

Shouldnt get stuck in first. You have to lift the shifter up only half way to get to neutral. All the way goes to second gear.

This is the only thing i can think that you would be talking about but that means you must have just got the bike. If this isnt what your talking about, the bike needs work.

yes.. when i put it in first gear it get stuck, if i start off in second its ok.. also when i downshift from 5th to second its ok, from 5th to first the bike comes to a complete stop, stuck in first gear the rear tire wont move at all, i have to pull the gear shift level up with my hand real hard and rock the bike at the sametime, i also here something poping when i do that please help me somebody thanks.

First off, how many post are you going to make on this?

The shift drum sounds like it has a problem, or the detent arm on the drum. Which can also be a result of a bent shift fork. Either which way, you are going to have to pull the motor and disassemble it. So everything here is a guess at this point. Your best bet is to pull the motor and take it over to Andy at Metric Motorcycles or Patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited.
