Therefore they are discussing raising the rates for motorcycles. The guy seemed to be prejudice against motorcycles.

I'm sure they have more issues with hooligans in cars causing more issues than motorcycle hooligans.

basically f u. The guy clearly did not like bikes, clearly said that trucks should be charged more and too bad if you ride a bike.
What this gave me though is insight into how the system works and I can now use that to advantage.
I need to get a petition going again (started one last year but it fell off the radar screen). People take more interest in a stuck grape or borc vs sdrc than something like this.
So a list of several hundred or thousands of names on a petition that I can take there in the future would have a much larger impact.

For those that were engaged, thanks for your support.

I think they they were ready for some motorcycle hooligans this morning, the officer near the podium was on high alert. He made me refrain from getting on camera and giving you guys the bird.

Also assumed after they announced that the county was borrowing 2.5 million dollars, that they were not going to be interested in lowering any rates anytime soon.

I canít believe the actually went there with hooligans blocking the toll road, like that has anything to do with honest motorcyclists trying to commute to work. Is there any way to get a recording of this? I notice they only had a few past recordings available to watchÖI figured when they opened up the most important things to them to talk about seemed to be money. At that point I wasnít very confident that they would reduce any form of tax.

Well anyways, I appreciate You going in there and fighting for us. At least someone is making an effort.

For the record Iíve never ran a toll in my life. I was simply asking for information from people who have ran them.

In the 6 years Iíve lived here, Iíve probably contributed more to the HCTRA than both of You have in your entire lives. I was paying well over 2 grand a year at one point and when they bumped the rate of even more, I decided enough was enough and started taking 610.
And If He really did say something about from out of state, it would have had to do with the fact that they are collecting additional money from non residents, so more out of state people=even more revenue.

He said they run more tolls than native Texans and are more trouble than they're worth

They did, it had nothing to do with the toll roads. They may post a video file of the meeting that you can enjoy at your leisure

You can ride next to it, you don't have to be right on top of it

What the guy says starting at 4:25 makes me wonder who were the wild men on motorcycles out there that were causing traffic issues the last three days. Thanks you just sunk us. LOL. Seriously the guy does not like bikes.

Yeah I was holding out to see how these guys responded to what he had to say...sounds like they were total dicks, so it's on to plan B for me now. Operation never pay another dime for a toll.

They have these pretty cool electronic flippy tags that are button activated. You can't really tell it's on a hinge unless you press the button.

I think it's more about "I have budget issues and you're trying to make it worse".

Providing a service has little to do with it. Even if they were making bank, once the traffic got too heavy on the tollways they would raise rates to remove some of the traffic. It is all about providing privileged access to the roadways. As a secondary benefit, the real money is likely made on the side through preferential access to contracts for improvement and expansion. Providing preferable access to motorcycles is not going to make those who commute with a lexus more happy or significantly increase the size or number of improvement contracts. Therefore, you lose.
