Yea, but you have to pay the folks in the booth. Should The Hardy be EZ tag only? I know Westpark is all EZ tag

I can't really be out riding while I'm sitting at my desk at work...I guess I could get back to work but it's kind of slow today. It's a good day for wasting time on the internet.

Yea might as well. Why have them sit there all day and only have a few people paying cash.

I guess you'd have to do a study to see if making it EZ tag only would reduce income further, right?

If they do that then they will rase the toll price again and say its going to take 5 years to do the study.

Maybe they could just count the cash paid at the booth during a week and average that out over a year

Thats to easy and wont make them that much money. But they will do that anyways and end up taking 10 years to report it to the public saying they were working on it the whole time

Or they could take the yahtzee cup, throw it out there, times it by 100 and jack the toll rate up to 2.50 a pop because the study costed them so much.

Changing the lanes to EZ tag only? all those cameras are going to cost them. I'm thinking at least 3.00 per toll is going to be justified.

The county is just so upside down with this toll road business.

OK, so on a bit of a tangent now, but the Grand Parkway/99 is supposed to be all EZ tag, or am I mistaken? And the logic for building it, as I have read in various news reports, is to lessen congestion for travellers who are trying to get through Houston by giving them pathway around the heavily congested areas like I-10 and the North loop. But, if I am coming from Louisiana heading to San Antonio or points west, how am I supposed to use a road I cannot use without a proprietary device? Are we expecting every trucker and traveller to stop on the outskirts of town at an EZ Tag office, drop $15 for the tag, set up an account, then loop around and maybe back again if their return trip dictates? How is that logical?
If there is a scam in place, its the EZ Tag only sections of the road. If I have cash and use the road once or twice a year, I should be able to go where I need to go. Then again, it is privately operated...

The next segment constructed was Phase I of Segment I-2, from IH10E to FM1405 in Chambers County. This 8.8 mile section of the highway was opened to traffic on March 25, 2008 and is a toll facility operated by TxDOT.

+1

I refuse to get the EZ tag for my car, because I had issues trying to pay them and their site wasn't working correctly, so I closed out the account when they sent me some threatening letter because my balance was negative 25 cents.

Now when you go to try and pay cash, it ends up taking just as long as using 610 because a lot of the booths that used to be cash only are now EZ tag only...all so they could lay people off. Nice guys.

I've never had a problem with my EZ tag account. Maybe you had a cheap PC

Or maybe your bank never issued you a new card due to hackers during a period of time when the slot to enter your new card number wasn't registering on four different computers.

It wouldn't have been an issue if the account wasn't set to renew when it got down to ten dollars...and ten dollars buys me one way home.
