Xr650r and ktm 690smc for tards here.

You were right longboarder. That ktm seat is brutal. I didnt think it could get worse than the xr. This thing was outlawed by the Geneva Convention as 'cruel and unusual'

I am back from vacation and desperate for a good ride. I'd say let's ride Thursday night rain or "shine". Rain would only make the ride more interesting. Any takers?

I think the seat is just a couple of bricks laid end to end and then covered in vinyl. The XR feels like a fine piece of furniture compared to the SMC. So how long did it take you to get home from Jersey? You definitely win the ironman award for that trip. That is a lot of miles on a motard.

I would need an transplant after that many hours on a bike in 2 days. I bet his hands are still buzzing. Well now he knows his new bike is in good shape. I bet he stopped for gas about 27 times. That tank is not very big.

I flew thursday, picked the bike up at 230pm,hit by the hurricane weather by 3, and gave up at 1am because all my gear was soaked through.

Friday I put down 900miles. Couldn't find a campsite because of all the 4th of july RVers. Ended up sleeping 2 1/2 hrs on a picnic table at a rest stop before the groundskeeper gave me the boot. Put down another 800 something saturday to get home.

The bike is killer on fuel. I got 57mpg at 80mph, and nearly 70 on the back roads.

When I picked it up I was 100% disappointed with it. No power at all. Then I discovered they had the dipswitch set to the 'low octane fuel' setting.

Can someone with an SMC measure their forks? Say from the axle to the top of the fork? Im trying to determine if my front has been lowered, or if it just has a kouba-link.

That sucks. I had a problem with a disc from an injury about seven years ago. My back always hurt for about six years. Couldn't even tie my shoes the morning after doing something as simple as yard work. This last year has been virtually pain free. My miracle cure was lifting weights three times a week for 45 minutes.

I will when I get home but I highly doubt they did that....that pretty pricey to lower the forks internally...

As it is, the disk "dissolves" on one side, then pops out to the good side and causes it. At least that's how I took it. Beer helps.

I agree, but the bike sits pretty level with the kouba-link and the forks arent raised in the triples. I hope it's not lowered.

Thanks Byrd!

Your timing was terrible. That was the first named hurricane for the year and you got to drive through it. Bummer.
I sold a KTM 950 Super Enduro to a guy from New Mexico. He flew down and rode it back. He got rained on the whole way and the battery shorted out and he got stranded some place I never heard of. I felt bad for the guy. On the bright side you both have good stories to tell.
