I'm sorry my common terminology has confused you... but seeing as though we are on a MOTORCYCLE forum, and most people refer to their MOTORCYCLE as a BIKE...I said BIKE. Does that clear things up for you?

To me biker = hardcore hd types while bike rider = bicyclist. I like the terms motorcyclist and sportbiker for people on sportbikes. Ahhh but what about those who ride cruisers/ standard street bikes? you ask. Well, they are motorcyclists.
Pilot does have a very nice ring to it though.

not really... What do you define as a bike rider? I've never heard anyone refer to a poser or anyone who doesn't ride just for the ride as a bike rider. They are still bikers or motorcyclist for the better reference. Does biker and biker rider have to be distinguished between skill or passion for riding?

Tell me....

Gotta be part of a biker gang to be considered a true biker.

I'm content with my bike rider status.

This is what I am asking you all...what is YOUR definition? What do YOU think is the difference. If there is no difference to you (Which happens to be how I feel) then simply say what you have just said. No need to make it more difficult than it is.

Thank you for your input Los.

motorcyclist is more modern and less gang related term. When people say biker, it's either someone is riding bicycle or hard core cruiser/chopper gang. Motorcyclist for you modern people that rides anything with a motor and not associated with any gang. Wide range of motorcycles.

well I guess I should have put that in my initial post.....

To me, there is NO difference. Bike Rider or Biker... to me its all the same. When I tell someone who is a non rider that I am going out, I tend to say that I am going out with some biker friends or Moto friends.

yes it does. IF you are not riding it daily or hard core rider, then you are a bike rider. A person that rides everyday or have more miles under his belt are more skill under many circumstances than the one the rides sometimes but when it is time to go, biker or bike rider will go.

Anyone can be called whatever they want to be called but call me a motorcyclist. A 'biker' has a negative aura that surrounds it that I don't want to be associated with.

I've met many nice Harley riders but that's the picture that comes to mind when the term 'biker' is uttered. I dislike Harley-Davidsons. Great motorcycles, sure but not my preferred machine. I've never ridden a Harley and I never will. The movie Easy Rider drove me away from Harleys when I was a little boy.

I do call my motorcycle my bike, though, but I don't ride bikes. I ride motorcycles.

Biker is an attitude. Not necessarily an outlaw mentality, as the general public would have you to believe, but a way of life. If your life revolves around bikes, and you live to ride, then you are a biker.

If it's just a hobby, and not a passion, and you just casually do it to be cool or because it is just a phase, then you are a bike rider
