when should a rear shock be serviced?

at what miles should I service my shock I only ride street. is it hard to do myself? how much would it be for a mechanic to do it?

Just take it to house of paint, he will check it for free and get your suspension adjusted while youre there for free. Call them up before you go. Why not get a professionals opinion?

I'm assuming this is on your 675?
Typical recommended service on a street bike is every 10,000-15,000 miles.
That shock is serviceable, and will be perfectly fine once it's been serviced.
