Don't sweat it. You got this. Just keep the speeds noob and legal. Stop at the intersections and wait for a thumbs up from your sweeper.

Also having two sweepers is better plan. That way one can stay behind and the other can ride ahead and inform the leader. Otherwise he won't know wtf happened, then sometimes a cluster ensues.

Anyways, I guess what I'm getting at...and not to sound like a pansy, but how fast is this ride going to be? I'm comfortable going slightly over the speed limit around turns, but not by much...especially going through S curves and that sort of thing. Are we going to be just cruising or pushing it a little?

I just don't want to get into a situation where I am in over my head and out in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of more experienced riders that are expecting me to keep pace. The same thing happened to me as a teen offroad and I ended up breaking my femur, so that is why I'm a little timid about jumping into a group ride so soon.

In my first group ride, I was under the speed limit lol

A noob ride? Sounds great for someone I know that had battery issues earlier this month.
If they post up, I'll help out.

^THIS^
and make sure to have a number count for your group before you leave and every time you stop to wait for your sweeper count it again! sometimes riders get a bit more distant from each other and people ran off without anyone noticing... my 2 cents...

Real easy, ICE= in case of emergency. Write it on a piece of paper and stick it in your wallet where it can be seen. Also if your cell phone auto locks or is pw protected turn that feature off during the ride. Trust me that if you're unresponsive on the side of the road it really sucks not to be able to reach anyone who knows you because your phone is locked.

Ride safe and remember the streets are not where you need to learn to be fast.

Depending on when I get off work Saturday night, I might give this one a try. New routes are always fun to learn.
