Any notable twisties/backroads in the Houston area?

Hey guys - experienced sportbike rider here by way of St. Louis, MO. (I'm originally from San Antonio, but work moved me out of state in 2006.) It's looking like I might be relocating to Houston in the near future, and I'm debating whether or not to sell the bike. We've got some great backroad riding up here in southeastern MO/Northern AR, and that's the type of riding I love. Doing some quick searches online though, I'm not finding anything noteworthy in the Houston area. But I'm hoping you guys can tell me I'm missing something. Are there any good roads in the Houston area for some aggressive backroad riding?

The NW parts are the only twisty stuff. Nothing in town so to speak.
FM149 Conroe area
FM3090 Navasota area
FM1458 Brookshire area
FM949 North of Sealy
FM1291 near Cat Springs to Fayetteville
These are all good roads. There are also a lot of connecting roads to them.

Look at a map I did a long time ago....good routes....

There's some decent roads 30-40 miles outside of Houston.

... And we have 3 road course tracks within an hour of Houston.

... so don't sell the bike.

BUT yes, we have tracks....several of them within reasonable distance and lots of trackday providers....probably more than necessary. You'll see.

Well. Best way I can put it. I lived in Ohio and frequently rode to WV and V. Moved to Houston and found some good roads with fast sweepers... You have to be going fast to feel the curve in the road..lol
Then there are some tighter corner roads, but pavement is rough...
We have a couple of tracks.. Pavement is okay.. Just okay..

If you are willing to log in 300 miles on weekend rides pM me.

Those blue routes look like a blast. Oh wait.

But pretty much what they've said: NW is your best bet for something resembling curvy roads.

I don't mind a 30-minute ride to the meet spot. I usually log 200-300 miles/day door-to-door when the weather's decent.

Thanks to YouTube, BORC rides look like my cup of tea (minus the passing in the corners). Looks like high-speed sweepers are the name of the game down there.

Thanks for the feedback and warm welcome, fellas. Hopefully I'll be joining y'all on the streets here shortly.

You do with what you have , we have several fun roads with fast sweepers, few others more technical...yes it's not Arkansas and definitely not the French Alps but we make the best of it... Contact us when you get here ,we have a tight group of friends......

So how did you cope with the adjustment? Ride more trackdays? Trailer the sportbike somewhere else? Ride it less in favor of the cruiser?

You can trailer up to Austin / San Antonio areas. 3 sisters being on of the more popular roads.

Just a note on daily riding...Houston is not a bike friendly city. It's actually very dangerous on our roads but most of us get used to it. On the other hand...no snow!
