I may be down. Will have to leave Huntsville by 1pm to get back into Houston if I can go. Any reason you want to go to Kelly's Pond instead of the East side trailhead?

We could leave by 1 just as long as we get at least 3 hours of riding in...I hate driving way out there for just a couple hours of riding....

I like Kellys pond better for some reason...the trails are smoother, not a lot of big mud holes and less sand. I also like that I can complete a whole loop....

I dont really care where we ride honestly. I just prefer Kellys Pond...

Man, I really want to go! I've never been to the forest. I have to be at work at 5pm in Freeport though... it's about 2 hrs from the forest. How early do you plan on getting out there?

FYI - I'm also riding Saturday on the east side at 11:45 with a few friends if you want to come out for that.

Friday at 9 at Kelleys Pond is fine with me, gonna be a bit cold, but once we're moving will be ok.

went out there yesterday...that place is a MESS.

LOTS of mud, downed trees all over the place, and I am glad I had goggles, I spent a lot of time looking at the gas tank......bushes and branches whacking me in the face.

It was fun though

did you do the Kelley's Pond? If so, did you happen to go right at the turn just north of Kelley's Pond? We had to do a rescue on a guys bike out on the trail just south of the Kelleys Pond road cause the mud had built up on his tires too much to drive it out. Probably need to go Honeymoon over to 208 then north back to the 208 trail head and then back to Kelley's pond Friday, that's not quite as muddy and overgrown as the short loop.

no, I was on a WR426.....I did see what looked like a husband and wife on 'zukis.
I got hung up on a downed tree, hole, branch (yes, all 3 at once)......guy comes over and helps me out. Din't really need help but it was appreciated.

Thats all I saw out there.

I was at Kellys Pond and did the east and north loop from there.
Hopefully I can get all my guys rolling and set up today so I can go play Friday.
I did find a bad rear wheel bearing cleaning the bike last night, hopefully K's or someone has a set. If not I am out.

Hey Truckin Thumper- be very careful if you go riding the SHNF with Buelligan. That ole blue WR426 might have a flashback and follow Larry out in to the open area like it has done for at least 1,000 miles!

By the way, don't make any bets with Buelligan that you can beat him to the next rest stop... Even if you start ahead of him, no matter how fast you are, you won't see him pass you but he can always arrive first. (Buelligan has learned a shortcut or two in the last 40 years he has ridden there) Hahaha

I'll be there at 9 with a couple for friends. Kelley's Pond @ 9am. And BTW, I'm not taking any more shortcuts, last time I did that I had to circle back and was way behind and I'm too old to be playing catch up........
