Expo Motorcars

I'm looking at a few BMW's they have there. Has anyone had experience or heard about the dealership overall?

i was wondering when you were going to tell us what happened to the S2k.

I love the 3 series if it's a CI, see if you can get a 540

Honestly, if you have the money to spend and you are looking at used Bimmers.........buy a CPO (certified pre-owned)......CPO cars will usualy bring a little more money because of the rigorous CPO program that BMW has and the added warranty up to 100k miles.

You can sometimes find CPO cars elsewhere other than BMW dealers too. Once a CPO car always a CPO car no matter how many owners as long as it meets the CPO criteria (not wrecked etc.)

Our 528i that we bought was a CPO and we bought it from Houston Land Rover North. Ended up saving our butts as a few months after we had the car the ABS computer failed and a few other things. Racked up a $3k service bill by the time it was done and all we had to pay was $100 if I recall correctly, they even supplied us with a free loaner car the entire time....

Our 330i was also a CPO, it was bought from Momentum on I-10. Not bad people to deal with but there service department leaves something to be desired. At least a couple of years ago it did....albiet that was when they were being bought and switching over to new owners though.

BMW are great cars, I love them.....have had 2 and will probably have more later......but from experience, buy CPO.

330ci at the top of the list.

with the s2k...a combination of bad rear tires, an accidental mishift into th wrong gear, and me blanking out when i lost traction.....lead me to wreck

fortunatly no one was hit by my car, and i left unscratched. a miracle on 45 during afternoon traffic

Head down to the used car department at Momentum BMW on the SW freeway. Talk to Brent Hawthorn and tell him martin sent you. I've purchased a couple of cars from him NP. The CPO is a must.

i have heard of nothing but horror stories about bmw's bro. i have friends that have vowed to never own any others b/c they were such pieces of . one had a '02 330 ci, that thing was always in the shop for engine/transmission work. my other buddy had a '05 545i, he hated it because it was always in the shop as well. it seemed like they alternated in the shop every month.

i say drive your old car around and pay the crib off and not get another car payment. well that's what i would do. well that's what dave ramsey would say.

actually he says at the beggining of every time he comes on he says:

Debt is dumb, cash is king, and the paid off home mortgage has take the place of the BMW as the status symbol of choice.

Rushing to pay off a house is old-school, and not the smartest thing to do. For one, you no longer get the tax break. Take your time paying off your house, and when it is paid off (or almost paid off), take a home equity loan and invest. Otherwise, you are basically sitting in a pile of money.

what's wrong with sitting in a pile of money???

and if you take a home equity loan that's not smart because remember your net wort his everything you own minus your debt. so if you go take out a home equity loan your worth that much less. hurrying and paying off a mortgage is the best thing to do as you then have access to all your money every month (minus living exp. of course) which is the best thing to have.

why on earth would you go 60 grand in debt to invest 60 grand??? that's not smart at all.

basically you're saying being debt free is not the smart thing to do rather being in debt is better. :eh:

money that isnt working for you (ie gaining interest) is a waste. Why not just put your money in a sock or pillow case?

If you think about it, the money saved through the home loan interest deduction and the rate of return on whatever investment you choose would be well worth it.

Let's say I took a 50k home equity loan. I invest that money that yeilds a 10% return over 15 years. Even with inflation (assuming its about 3%), I end up with about 134k. The total cost of the home equity loan was about 86k (assuming an 8% interest rate). So you just made about 50k, plus whatever you saved through the home interest deductions.

You still want to sit on that house money?

I'd rather be out of debt and invest from there than go into debt to invest. that simple.
