New to MotoHouston

Hey, I'm Joe. I live in NW Houston and ride a Ninja 500 (laugh it up ). I have been riding since June, and have 12,000 miles under my belt already, so I'm no stranger to riding day in day out. I lived in Vegas for a while and moved back in January so I don't have too many people to ride with who I trust. So hello all, and I hope to get some riding in with some new people.

Not going to laugh at you or your bike we only laugh at the ones that come in here thinking they are better than everyone else. I live on the north side and when I can find a sitter I am always up to ride.

Well, thanks everyone. Much nicer crowd than the folks in Vegas. Anyways, I did not take the MSF. I won't say that I'm too good for it, but I really am not motivated to do so. I actually learned the hard way in October when I borrowed a GSXR 750 from a friend and totalled it in Death Valley at 80mph (low sided through gravel). Luckily I was wearing all the gear and only suffered a major loss of skin on my knee. I'm still riding the Ninja, but have plans to salvage the Gixxer and make it a first track bike, since I had to buy it anyway. And by the way, if anyone in the NW is looking to ride ANYWHERE and needs a partner, I'm almost always ready to ride...

so what have you learned?

90% of rider deaths are people who are self-taught.

I live off 290 and Tidwell, but work at Jones and 1960. I commonly go out to the Montgomery Trace on weekends to hit the corners...
