That's the bump he hit that sent him wobbling

I have said this before, it is all about risk and understanding what the risks are and how to minimize those risks. Not sure if all accidents are avoidable but it is certainly within your power to minimize the risks.

Back in 08, I hit what was effectively a speed bump in the middle 59 north bound on the north side of the bridge over Buffalo bayou. The bike went into a tank slapper that I shouldn't have recovered from. Both hands came off the bars and both feet off the pegs but somehow the bike straighten itself out. No gear but a helmet. Both wheels bent. That day was a wake up call for me.

When the new bridge was built, they put down some asphalt next to a expansion joint. So what happened when the weather warmed up? It heaved into a big bump. I called to report it with no action then I got a number directly to Txdot and reported it . That whole section of the bridge got tore up and replaced about two week later.

I didn't expect a speed bump in the middle of the freeway!

Exclamation much love

Hello all - I really appreciate all the prayers from the community and everyone taking the time to give feedback on this. As a lot of folks have said " happens". I want to thank you Josh for spreading the word and getting all of the community involved, taking the time out of your day to come keep me company and being an all around great friend. Tony and Angel, i owe you fellows my life. If it wasn't for Tony making the call to life flight, I wouldn't be here writing this today. my family appreciates everything from each and everyone of you, I get to spend more time with my wife and kids and that is truly a blessing. I do want to clarify somethings, I knew what I was doing when I jumped in front, I know my limits and I love to push them but it was the wrong place wrong time. This situation could have been way worse but it is what it is, I've learned from it and I take full responsibility for this. Here is the full breakdown of injuries: severed left pinky, shattered left index finger, punctured left lung (still have the chest tube in), collapsed right lung (two chest tubes and right upper large hematoma), broken collar bone, 13 broken ribs, broken right arm, broken back. I'm pretty incapacitated as I type so I may be missing something but this is something short of a miracle, I've been up walking around talking, I get to see my kids in the morning and I may even make it out of here before Christmas! As for fundraisers or anything, I don't really expect to be out off the house much but I will be on disability until I can return to work, we are in the process of moving(which I can't be much help and Sasha is having to do everything with my parents) if you'd like to help with the moving process that would be appreciated or help pitch in to hire movers that would be great also. my PayPal is sdrose85@gmail.com and my cell is 409-392-8772. anything would be helpful right now, thank you everyone in this community for showing so much love please feel free to call me even if you want to just shoot the

Awesome .. Glad you get to spend Christmas with the family.

About the moving... I think a moving company is the way to go especially with Christmas holidays and the unpredictable weather... You have any idea how much the moving company would charge for doing the job? I think if you set a target $$ amount to be met, it brings more enthusiasm to meet that set goal and maybe go over...

Also i had read to my parents of your accident the day josh had posted it up and my parents both said they will pray for you and my mom said she will light a candle and say a prayer for you every night. That you get better and get to see your children grow up. Both my parents will be happy to hear of your progress

Exclamation Progress

My family is doing a lot of the packing as we speak, i think we are going to save everyone the burden of moving over the holiday. We still have until the end of the month and need to get a storage which Sasha is working on tomorrow but it looks like the costs for the movers will be around $250.00 we have the money for the storage but i have to wait for my disability to go through at work.

I want to thank Neil Sangalang for his contribution to the movers fund. I don't know your MH name but you are a good man for helping a complete stranger in need.

When i wrote the last message i was using my tablet which was super difficult, i'm now using my laptop and having the same issues lol... really didn't think this was going to be this hard but i'll keep with these updates until i'm out of here. All of your prayers and blessings have really shaken me and my family to the core. Knowing that so many people care about the well being of another fellow rider just brings tears to my eyes. I want to thank everyone for everything, even a simple conversation brought my spirits up tremendously. Here is an update on everything going on with my injuries:

1) Had one tube removed from my right side

2) Had the remaining tubes (1 right, 1 left) switched to gravity instead on suction and everything seemed to be going well until this morning. Now the left side is on suction due to some fluid still in the opening around my lung. Hopefully we can go back to gravity then have it taken out tomorrow. i'll keep everyone posted

3) Having surgery on on my left hand on Tuesday to correct my ring fingers placement and check the healing of my amputated pinky along with my pointing finger.

4) The metal plate that is placed in my right bicep is healing well, i have mobility in my arm and fingers.

5) Took more X-rays of my right clavicle to figure out what they are going to do with it since it is at an angle now. Keep everyone posted

6) Took more X-rays of my chest, my right lung still has a decent golf ball sized hematoma in the upper left portion. it's slowly but surely decreasing in size, i'll keep everyone posted.

7) The 5 vertebrae that are broken in my back seem to be healing well, the rods that were installed may have to be removed since i'm not a specific weight. (the rods may stick out once healed completely) I'll keep everyone posted.

Everything else seems to be going well, once we get all the details on the remainders of things that need fixing i should have a release date. It is a miracle i am walking today and the only reason i think i am is because of everyone's prayers, blessings and positive outlook on my recovery. i wish i knew how to repay everyone but there are so many thanks to be given. Once i'm better if anyone needs anything please ask i would be more than happy to pay it forward. Also if anyone wants to see the progression of the recovery, my wife has been taking pictures but i didn't want to post and offend anyone. Thanks again everyone, y'all are great

Sounds like he needed a suspension set up. Dampers are bandaids and if anything, should be set at the lowest setting possible if at all.

ZX10's are prone to headshakes if not dialed in; and depending on rider weight can't be set up with stock springs and valving.

And often as not, head shake is rider induced.. bikes left alone will straighten themselves out. Would like to hear his thoughts if he can remember, as to whether he fought it trying to straighten it out, or relaxed and stayed on the gas.

There was no fight, had no time. hit the bump in the road at the beginning of the curve had to decide if i wanted to hit the oncoming car or take the ditch and grass.... didn't think i would win with the oncoming car, think i made out better taking out the poles lol.

I'm sure nobody will be offended by pics....have seen a ton on gnarly stuff on the boards included a deer on a bike that may have been sodomized...
