Went down last night -.-

Just copying and pasting my fb post into here for MH.

Was exiting 59 @ polk and almost got taken out, including 2 pics of the intersection.

There's the FWY exit with 2 lanes; a left turn only and a straight only then a median and 2 feeder lanes that are no left turn. I am exiting the freeway and riding in the 2nd lane from the left, the straight only lane.

Anyways I am maybe a car length from crossing into the intersection and someone in the far right lane decides to randomly whip a left and turn onto Polk.

Didn't have time to do . Kinda froze up while grabbing a big handful of front brakes and stomping the rear.

Managed to lay the bike down/fall over mid myself and slide behind the end of that SUV. They never even noticed.

Was as , people had stopped their vehicles across all 4 lanes of traffic and some were already out of their vehicle starting to walk over to check on me. I just snatched the bike off the ground, started it back up and took off down polk to find the white suv.

Lo and behold 2 blocks down the street @ Toyota Center a Beyonce concert was letting out and there was total gridlock of pedestrians and vehicles. There were half a dozen white suv's sitting in the gridlock in front of me and I had no clue which one it was.

I lane split and rode up to all the closest ones to check and see if anyone looked freaked out cause they almost road-killed me but no dice. If I found the suv they were completely oblivious.

BAca7An

ibEKghh

Wow, this week/2 weeks is about to go into my personal hall of fame as my worst ever lmao.

Bronchitis for a week and have to waste my vacation time being sick when all I want to do is gtfo of town for a bit

Electric company overcharges me a grand and won't refund it for 3-5 business days

near get killed and then couldn't chase down the person that did it

Precious bikes fcked up now

Birthdays tomorrow lmao

On the other hand though, extremely lucky I was wearing all my gear and had 0 injuries, not even a scratch. Was only going 40ish when they whipped the left and was able to slow down quite a bit before I went down. ATGATT

Also damage to the bike is just cosmetic from what I can tell , scrapes to left side of the plastics, 2 holes in the same where my left blinker was ripped off, bent clutch, bent shifter.

****

Ok this parts not copy pasted, how much does a blinker cost?

That something I should go scrounge in a junkyard for?

Are they sold individually or is it something I am going to have to buy the whole setup?

Will I get pulled over/ticketed for my front left one being ripped off?

Not worried about the cosmetic damage but am kinda irate that someone elses idiocy jacked up my aestetic bike before I could do it on my own playing in a parking lot or something lol.

Just count your blessings and consider yourself lucky. Ride as if you're invisible to everybody will help you along with planning exit routes in what-if situations. Sometimes happens and you're SOL.

The blinkers are all the same in the 250. front and rear are interchangeable. I an extra one off my other bike if you need it. The blinkers are all connected to each other so getting yourself a new flasher relay will make all your blinkers work if one should not work. Ebay is your best bet for new blinkers. They have similar to stock blinkers and LED ones for cheap for a set vs buying new for just one.

You won't get pulled over unless the cop is being a . Either way, I use hand signals if my blinkers don't work.

Downtown driving is dangerous man, especially on a bike! Too many things to avoid!

Thanks for the info man, yea I could definitely use that extra blinker you have if you wouldn't mind. Not to far from you either.

Trust me I know, live/work here and ride in the area commuting constantly. Always riding extra extra defensively in the area if that's even possible lol. I don't ride aggressively at all on the surface streets inside the loop and should prolly just get my a ruckus or something for commuting lmao.

Lots of people get confused driving downtown and pull the stupidest fffing , need to watch out no matter what vehicle you are in but especially if riding.

Glad your ok. While your waiting for a new blinker you can still ride. Blinkers aren't required on motorcycles, you just have to use hand signals.

You don't have to get a gopro. Get yourself a cheap 808 16v2 with D lens keychain camera and call it a day. Cheaper and smaller.

Thanks.

Yea, once I got home I thought, well maybe I should have stayed at the scene so I could get some statements from the people that had stopped to check on me.. for police report/insurance etc.

Gopro would have come in real handy and I might have been able to pull a licence plate or something if I was lucky and have their insurance get my bike back into like new condition and hopefully a ticket at least for the dumb driver.

It's illegal as fck to whip a left from the far right turn only lane across 3 lanes of traffic causing a wreck.

You really don't think they would cite the driver if I showed a video and had gotten lucky and had a legible licence plate?

Any LEOs please respond

I would be so mad and probably turn into one of those police bashers that constantly rants about how useless they are lol.

High enough quality?

I know with the gopro... depending on vibration and speed, it'd be tough to get a plate number.... which is the only thing that matters. Even then, if they didn't hit you, not sure what can be done. It's not a hit and run... it's just an move. I could be wrong though.

That sucks about the wreck (and other stuff)... but it coulda be worse. This is ONE reason people start on smaller/cheaper bikes. Seriously... isn't a ruckus the same cost?

EDIT: I'm slow to type... was responding back up in line with cuong

'

Mentioning a ruckus was more just and giggles because of my riding style when I am commuting through downtown or inside the loop in general.

Have you dealt with HPD regarding an accident especially with no contact?

Not knocking all of HPD (you know who you are on here/NO FTP comments HFMIC) but I have been in a similar situation and it was a waste even calling them. They would probably write you a ticket for impeding the flow of traffic. Just be glad you are ok and are able to walk away. riding in that area especially when events are letting out.
