Jimmy,
I think the subject has become sensitive because of the our track priviledges being taken advantage of there.

+1 to Bucks and Toms comments on the hill.
I've had more friends life flighted out of there than all of the other tracks on the CMRA schedule combined.
It does not suffer fools well.

For those who would like to check out Oak Hill.... Lonestar Track Days will be holding events on July 6th and September 28th. All other threads about Oak Hill in the racers lounge are for qualified racers.

and there must be a reason why there is not a beginner's group for that trackday at oak hill.....

because it's a dangerous track for beginners. i'm sure nobody wants to see anybody get seriously injured at the track.

There is no beginner group because it is on a Friday before race weekend.

Jimmy, don't worry.

I'll post up on the TSBA board when the time comes. I'm not sure how well Buck understands the TSBA guys. The TSBA is made up of licensed racers, who are mature and understand the risks involved everytime they get on a bike - unlike some of the other boards.

Please do not mix the TSBA with any of those boards.

I have personally seen TSBA members violate the rules at OHR by bringing and being non-licensed riders to that track. So, Buck's comments are valid.

I personally don't care who yall bring with you as long as they're licensed.

If you're going to "post up" for folks to come with you, make sure that you include "MUST BE A LICENSED RIDER TO ATTEND".
Tom to you i'll always be young and inexperienced. But that's fine me. Your like a father to be anyways. You've taught me half the stuff about this sport anyways.

I assure you "if" and "when" we do go - we will make sure ONLY licensed riders attend. All unlicensed people "not riders" will be the wifes and gfs going to help out in the paddock.

Oakhill is not a nice track if you disrespect her! Very technical track. If you learn tho, to ride this track i would say that you could ride on any track. If you do not plan on becoming a racer, please try to make it out to a trackday at Oakhill, esp. before you think that you can just go out and ride. This track should be ridden under great caution, no matter who you are/ what exp. you have.

YES, b/c not very many people run something other than Antifreeze coolant in a street bike. which can make for a very slippery time.

This isn't something to post on the TSBA board or anywhere else. Oakhill has killed more riders that anyother track in TX. It is a racers track, not intended for use by the trackday enthusiast. Racers beware, Oakhill will bite you hard.
Ah, Buck. How quickly one forgets this is a "public" board.:director:

Don't worry, we'll keep it on the DL over "there" .

People violate the rules of OHR and have done it in the past. My reason for concern is just as Buck explained- we (CMRA racers) love that track (for the most part) and do NOT want to lose the privilege of using it. Violating the terms of use agreement will be the shortest route to us losing it.
Lol..

I was'nt taking it negatively dude.

I meant it in a positive way. I agree with you and understand you guys concern.

I don't think that the CMRA really approves of people just joining the org to get $75.00 trackdays. I think that the track is meant as a resource for people who actually have a vested interest in racing, like testing out a new bike or motor or private training. I know Marcus McBain does his one on one training at Oak Hill.

This thread on their forum is an interesting read.

According to the opinions of some If you are the occasional trackday / racer, then you are a danger on the track.:confused1

i think that OH is pretty spartan on the amenities, so you can probably count the beacon out unless a buddy brings one.

Spartan is a new one.........:laughing6 There are a few plugs under the tech barn, but they are usually gone if you are not there the night before or at dawn. No beacon, port-a-potties, and a water tap by the power pole, and that's it. Oh and LOTS of red dirt!! The local ambulance number used to be written by the door to the "office". have fun, be smart...........
