Hummm..

ok, here it goes.

I found a very good deal on an Acewell Speedo

ACE 3853

This is going on the WR, which does NOT have a battery.
I am not wanting to convert the whole bike to run off an MC battery, just the Acewell.

requirements:
12v
Must stay on for up to 10 hours (will wire in a switch to kill the power to it)
can be charged while sitting in the garage.
must be small enough to sit in the air box (maybe 1.5"Wx1.5"deep, 4" long)

Not sure of the amp/watt draw of the Acewell, cant be much.

I need a battery that can meet this criteria.Oh, with a charger

I bought a battery holder at radioshack. It holds like 8 aa batts. It makes 12v. It ran my depth finder in my kayak for at least 12 hours. You can use rechargeable batteries too

Ended up getting a 12v 2.3Ah SLA and a charger from the Batteries + on 242.
I enjoyed spending my money with a board member.
I installed the batt in the airbox, and a switch behind the headlight. The constant hot is right to the battery.

I ran about 4-5 hours on Fri, a few on Sat and about 6 on Sunday.
Put the battery on charge last night, fully charged after about 4 minutes.

I may have done this one right

Only thing is, I am not sure on if my RPMs are accurate.
Idle is about 1K, (probably right). Cruising at 50mph, 5th gear. 4200.....seems about right for a thumper.

When I lived in Meyerland area, I used the Beechnut location a few times, always very helpful folks. This was back in 08/09
