Yep, and I admit it is just a personal preference for me. The Icon I tried was so bad, I'd take a Pep Boys helmet over it. I do understand some people like them, but I just can't recommend them.

I really liked my exo 1000. My only problem was the padding. It was so rough it literally rubbed my ears raw taking it on and off.

It's a good helmet for winter riding. It's a little heavy because of the sun visor. The only thing I don't like about it is that the neck roll is thick as is the forehead portion to accommodate the sun visor, which makes it harder to look through turns when you're tucked and leaned over. It intrudes into the top part of your field of vision.

Can't beat it for that price.

I just bought an IS-16 on clearance for somewhere around $75. So far it's a comfortable helmet, and the inclusion of a pinlock shield was nice. It feels slightly lighter than my Joe Rocket RKT201, but not a huge difference, and the vents are much smaller, though I can't yet comment on their effectiveness. I'm already much happier with the is-16 than the Vemar Geo I bought over the summer.

HJC's (and their Joe Rocket alter-ego) fit my head really well, so I will usually pick a new one up on clearance as the next season's models start to come out.

I have a lot of helmets listed in the Wild West Honda Ebay store. If you see something you like let me know and I'll discount it even more than the Ebay price. If anyone needs a small or X-small helmet I have several priced at $49. HJC CL-16 matte black XS, $49. CL-16 Shock MC-5 small, $49. CL-16 white XS,$49. ICON Alliance, white/black small, $49. It's almost inventory time so everything in my Ebay store needs to go. Call me for pricing if you see anything you like. 281-392-8850. Ask for Bill in parts and mention Motohouston. Thanks.

whoops, bought the CL-16, not the IS. I think the only helmets I've had with the internal sheild were the Bell Revolver, which didn't fit my head right and the Vemar Geo, which I only used for a few thousand miles. I don't know if I'm sold on the need for the extra weight just to have a lightly tinted drop-down screen.

My AGV Skyline has a drop down and I can't tell that it's any heavier than other helmets I've owned. It's nice to have because I don't have to worry about sunglasses or carrying a clear shield.

Remember, with the internal sun visor you lose the Snell rating on the helmet.

I did not know this. The ad on STG even states SNELL/DOT certified.

The Scorpion model is the only one I think. That's why it is so heavy. Even the new Shoei GT-Air with the internal visor loses the Snell rating.

There may be others I'm not familiar with. HJC is another example, the more expensive IS-17 is not Snell approved but the cheaper CL-16 is.
