i think i did the right thing, by bulking after losing so much weight so quickly. when i started i was pretty weak, and felt like i didnt have alot of muscle. i lost wieght very rapidly. i lost like 90lbs in 4-5 months. i ate really clean, but never counted calories. i weight trained for an hour everday and did cardio 5 days a week. the only supps i took were a multivitamin 1-day, and whey isolate. an example of a days worth of meals would look like:

meal 1: (main meal): lean body shake, 1cup oatmeal
meal 2: 8 hardboiled eggs (whites only)
meal 3: 1cup oatmeal
meal 4 (main meal): 2 chicken & 1 can kidney beans (with some no sugar bbq sauce.)
meal 5: 1 can tuna w/ mustard & 2 slices wheat toast w/ no sugar.
meal 6: (after workout): lean body shake w/ 1 scoop whey isolate powder(added 26g protein) i would also usually grill up some veggies w/ some low sodium soy sauce.

i would cheat once a week, but i would not overdo it. a cheat meal for me would be to go out and eat a clean meal at a restaraunt, or eat some sushi.

i often made large portions sunday night, and would have enough to last me all week. like i would grill up 10 for the whole week to take to work. i would often make turkey chili, in a large pot, this would allow me to eat all week without having to cook everyday.

once i got down to around 240lbs and 30%bf i started to bulk. the weird thing is when i began eating around 4000cals a day, and stopped cardio totally, i lost another 5lbs. i began strict weight training for 3 months. the second week i started gaining weight fairly rapidly. i packed on about 2lbs a week and started to plateau around my 12th month of bulking and was around 26%bf. i ended up dropping from 30%bf down to 26%bf at the end of the bulk, my ending weight was right around 257. so i prolly put on about 30lbs of actual muscle seeing as i lost some fat during my bulk. ive now been cutting for about a month and ive gone down to 19%bf. right now i do 35mins of cardio and keep my heart rate around 150-160 the entire time. i dont run, i usually use the stair machine or the treadmill(at the highest incline). i feel like i work my legs better when i do this as opposed to jogging. but it could just be in my mind.

i currently weigh 225lbs as of last night (4/13/07). i would like to get to 10% body fat or lower, i havnt set a time, cause i really dont care how long it takes. i feel my body will lose it however fast it wants, and i dont want to strain myself too hard, or eat too little then feel weak. i also dont want to overtrain and end up getting injured. so ill keep on the path at which ive been goin (which has far exceeded my expectations so far.)

ive learned quite a bit in the last 10 months. especially about dieting, and how to build muscle mass, as well as cut the fat while preserving muscle mass. so if you want help or pointers hit me up bro, im more than welcome to share my knowledge with you.

huh? thats totally not true!? the only way i would get fat again is if i became sedintary and ate calories in excess of my maintenance. the muscle i put on is not gonna magically turn into fat, in fact it will be harder to get fat seeing as the excess muscle will burn alot more calories throughout the day.

welcome back even though i didnt knw you before.. pretty sure that was you that was AIMing me the other day though..

and yes. every 1# of muscle burns about 50 calories / day. no working out needed. it burns the 50 just sitting still.

Congrats on your victory over being chubby I work in the Fitness Industry and see success and failure daily. If you put your brain and your heart into it, it is easy. Good Job.

i dont have AIM, so it mustve been som1 else.

the hardest part is not gonna be staying at a low bodyfat, rather eating enough food to maintain the muscle i build. if i so decide to compete in amature events, i will need to get down below 6% bf for good vascularity, but at that low bodyfat, keeping the muscle is gonna be tough!

looking back, im not sure id call it easy, but it was easier than i thought it was gonna be. actually getting swole is a helluva lot harder than getting slim (not really slim though, im pretty wide). but luckily im an endomorph/mesomorph body type so gaining/maintaining muscle is fairly easy right now.
