Just starting

Hi everyone,

I'm a new rider in League City/Kemah. I'm looking at different MSF basic courses, and I was wondering, does anyone here have a recommendation? I'm looking at the Team Manusco MSF course in La Marque (by the dog track) but I could also go to San Jacinto College MSF course...it's all a matter of which one is better/more recommended.

If the basic course goes well, I'm going to be looking for a used Ninja 250r as a beginner bike. Does anyone have any advice for buying used in Houston? Is it a big deal for me to get the bike delivered to my house?

Thanks...I hope to see you all on the road...

I took it as San jac and it was not that bad. I actually made a friend in the process.

A Huffy!

Have you considered any of our sponsors?

A friend or family member can help you get the bike when you decide to purchase or perhaps a member local to you can assist you in bringing it back to your place.

Get something much larger than a 250, that will get boring quick.

facepalm

This is probably some of the worst advice posted on motorcycle forums.
I know several people on this board that will out ride you on a 250 on track or street.

OP: A 250 would be a great starter bike, when you KNOW you've outgrown it, then move on. You'll most likely be able to sell it for exactly what you paid for it.

Get the new 300! Its fuel injected, very noob friendly.

And you will never outgrow a 250 or 300, but if you decide to get a bigger bike you can resell it for about the same you paid for it.

Yeah, I'm near SSH. I don't own a bike yet -- still need to take the MSF course.

Is the 300 worth it? Seems a lot more expensive than a used 250. I'm probably going to sell the 250/300 for a bigger bike once I feel ready. I have zero experience, so I don't feel too confident starting on something big.

Either way we know to question anything you post for validity, here on out...
Thanks for clearing that up in only 6 posts.

OP- Remember to calculate in the cost of all the gear you're going to need also.
(Helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, etc along with MSF license)
