Holy bent kickstand batman!
Does he carry a block around with him everywhere? Or is the mileage so high because he can't stop anywhere?

Granted, cheapest new(ish) SV i've seen! Especially considering it doesn't LOOK trashed.
And I'm constantly looking.

Not sure... cause dropping them will result in bending the little lever you use to put it down... but not bending the actual stand.

Maybe turning the bike around on the kickstand.. If its mechanically sound and straight frame, forks, wheels... No electrical issues... Clear title.. Then its a steal... I wouldn't loose sleep over a bent kickstand or air in the lines that can be fixed easily.

I have had 3 sv's and they have been a blast... My next bike is going to be a KLR 650.

Is it really a steal though? 45K miles, has issues and still asking two grand. I hear SV650 is a great bike, but I don't think the market is that high? What did you get for your 3?

I got more than what I paid for all three after putting more miles on them. I didn't have that many miles on them though. I had 2 SV 650's 2001, and a 2006 SV 1000.
My 2001 hayabusa I sold for 6k with 57k miles on it.. The guy said it had a lot of miles at first... Then he gave me the cash to hold on to while he took it for a quick spin...and then paid full asking price..

$2k isn't a steal.... but it may be the cheapest "sound" and pretty bike. Whether it stays sound is up to debate.

Would it be a steal if it was 1500?

45k is nothing on that motor. Provided proper maintenance was done, that motor is good for at least another 25k before you'd even need to think about a rebuild. How long would it take you to put 25k miles on a bike? For most riders it'd take around 6 years. The parts to rebuild the rear caliper cost $50 give or take...and that's IF it needs a rebuild. Like Jimrad said, it may only need to be bled properly. OEM kickstand is $85. On the high side, let's call it $2200 for the bike and parts to "fix." Full coverage insurance is a max of $50/month depending on your accident/ticket history. So:

[(6 x 12 x 50) + 2200] / 6 = $967/yr. (~$80/mo.) for 6 years, which is nothing. I pay more than that for my cell phone. Find a bike you can ride that cheap that needs less attention. Valve adjustments? It's a twin. Buy a $90 shim kit and DIY for as long as you own it. Engine rebuild? DIY for a couple of hundred dollars and ride it til the wheels fall off. This bike is a good deal.

1. Not trying to trash the guys bike, but considering the amount of problems it has, I doubt proper maintenance was a high priority. People who keep their bike well maintained usually fix problems with things like side stands and brakes (!).

2. Everything being equal, a 45K motor is worth less than a 20K motor which is worth less than a 5K motor.

I'm not that familiar with the used SV650 market, I was just basing it off what I was thinking (out of curiosity, not for sale) I could get for my old naked bike that has 4K miles and no issues at all.
